The changes to Paul’s plans

This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.

1:12 The changes to Paul’s plans

12So this is our boast: Our consciences testify that we have conducted ourselves in the world (and even more so towards all of you) with purity and godly sincerity, not with worldly wisdom, but relying on God’s grace. 13We’re not writing other ideas to you other than what you’re all reading. You’re also understanding it and I’m hoping that you’ll be able to understand it all the way through to the end 14as you initially partially understood us. Then on the day when Master Yeshua returns, you’ll be able to boast about us just as we do about all of you.

15Because of my confidence in that, I had wanted to visit you all so that you’d have a second taste of grace, 16[ref]and to continue on to Macedonia and to stay again on the way back, and then to have you all help send me on my way to Yudea. 17Was I just being light-headed when I hoped for that? Or what was I thinking? Was I just thinking in worldly ways where yes, I might, and at the same time, no, I might not? 18But our message to you all hasn’t been both ‘yes’ and ‘no’, because God is faithful. 19[ref]His son Yeshua Messiah who I’ve preached about to you all, as well as hearing it from Silas and Timothy, didn’t become ‘yes’ and ‘no’, but in him it’s become ‘yes’. 20Concerning the many promises made by God, in Messiah they’re ‘yes’, and therefore through him the ‘Let it be so’, resulting in honour for God through us. 21It’s God who commissioned us and who confirms you and us to Messiah, 22and God also places his seal on us and places his spirit in our hearts.

23I call on God as a witness for my soul that it was to spare you all that I didn’t come to Corinth. 24Not that we are in any way the masters of your faith, but rather we are fellow-workers sharing in your happiness because you all stand in the faith.

2So I made the decision myself not to make a sad visit to you, 2because if I’m making you all upset, who would be left to cheer me up except for the people that I would’ve just upset? 3So I wrote this same thing, so that when I came, I wouldn’t get your upsets when I should be being happy, having trusted in you all that my happiness is in you. 4I wrote to you much difficulty and anguish in my heart and through many tears, not wanted to make you all upset, but rather so that you’d know how much love toward you all is much greater than all that.

12For/Because the boasting of_us this is:
the testimony of_the conscience of_us, that in holiness and sincerity of_ the _god, and not in wisdom fleshly, but in grace of_god, we_were_conducted in the world, and more_abundantly toward you_all.
13For/Because no other things we_are_writing to_you_all, but than what you_all_are_reading or even you_all_are_understanding, and I_am_hoping that to the_end you_all_will_be_understanding, 14as also you_all_understood us in part, that the_boast of_you_all we_are, just_as also you_all are of_us, in the day of_the master Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa).
15And with_this the confidence I_was_wishing previously, to you_all to_come, in_order_that a_second grace you_all_may_have, 16and by you_all to_pass_through to Makedonia, and again from Makedonia to_come to you_all, and by you_all to_be_sent_forward to the Youdaia.
17Therefore this wishing, surely_not consequently to_ the _lightness I_resorted?
Or what I_am_counselling, according_to flesh I_am_counselling, in_order_that may_be with me the Yes, yes, and which No, no?
18But faithful the god is, that the message of_us which to you_all, not is Yes and No.
19The the For/Because of_god son, Yaʸsous chosen_one/messiah, who among you_all by us having_been_proclaimed, by me, and Silouanos, and Timotheos, not became Yes and No, but Yes in him has_become.
20For/Because as_many_as promises of_god, in him is the Yes.
Therefore also through him, the Truly, to_ the _god for the_glory by us.
21And the one confirming us with you_all to chosen_one/messiah and having_anointed us is god, 22who also having_sealed us and having_given the deposit of_the spirit in the hearts of_us.
23But I as_witness the god am_calling on the my soul that sparing from_you_all no_longer I_came to Korinthos.
24Not that we_are_mastering of_you_all over_the faith, but fellow-workers we_are of_the joy with_you_all, because/for in_the faith you_all_have_stood.
2I_judged for by_myself this, which not again in sorrow to you_all to_come.
2For/Because if I am_sorrowing you_all, also who is which gladdening me, except not/lest the one being_sorrowed by me?
3And I_wrote this same thing, in_order_that not having_come, sorrow I_may_have from of_whom it_was_fitting me to_be_rejoicing, having_trusted in all you_all that the my joy of_all of_you is.
4For/Because out_of much tribulation and anguish of_heart, I_wrote to_you_all through many tears, not in_order_that you_all_may_be_sorrowed, but the love in_order_that you_all_may_know that I_am_having more_abundantly toward you_all.
