1:18 The birth of the messiah

(Luke 1:26-38)

18[ref]Now this is how the birth of Yeshua came about: Maria his mother was engaged to Yosef. But before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the work of the holy spirit. 19But Yosef, her husband to be was a good man, and not wishing to disgrace Maria, he decided to quietly divorce her. 20But as he was pondering this, one of God’s messengers appeared to him in a dream and told him, “Yosef, descendant of King David, don’t to be afraid to marry Maria because the baby in her has been conceived by the holy spirit. 21[ref]In due course she will have a son and you’ll name him Yeshua, because he will save his people from their sins.”

22Now all this happened in fulfilment of what the God had said through the prophet, 23[ref]Listen, the virgin will get pregnant and she will have a son, and they will call him Immanuel (in Hebrew) which means ‘God with us.’ ”

24Then Yosef got up and did what God’s messenger had commanded him and he went ahead and married Maria 25[ref]but he didn’t sleep with her until after she gave birth. And Yosef named the boy Yeshua.

18And the birth the of_Yaʸsous chosen_one/messiah was thus:
Maria the mother of_him, having_been_betrothed to_ the _Yōsaʸf, before or/than them to_come_together, she_was_found having in womb by the_ holy _spirit.
19And Yōsaʸf the husband of_her, being righteous and not willing to_expose her, was_counseled to_send_ her _away secretly.
20But these things having_been_considered of_him, see, an_messenger of_the_master was_seen to_him in a_dream saying:
Yōsaʸf, son of_Dawid, may_ not _be_afraid to_receive Maria the wife of_you, because/for the one in her having_been_born is from the_ holy _spirit.
21And she_will_be_bearing a_son, and you_will_be_calling the name of_him Yaʸsous, because/for he will_be_saving the people of_him from the sins of_them.
22And all this has_become, in_order_that the thing having_been_spoken by the_master through the prophet may_be_fulfilled saying, 23Behold, the virgin will_be_having in womb and will_be_bearing a_son, and they_will_be_calling the name of_him Emmanouaʸl/(ˊImmānūʼēl), which is being_translated:
- god With us.
24And the Yōsaʸf/(Yōşēf) having_been_raised from the sleep, did as the messenger of_the_master commanded to_him, and received the wife of_him, 25and was_ not _knowing her until of_which she_bore a_son, and he_called the name of_him, Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa).
