15:1 Obeying God versus tradition

(Mark 7:1-13)

15Then some from the Pharisees’ party and teachers of the law from Yerusalem arrived and asked Yeshua, 2“Why do your followers break the traditions handed down by our elders? They’re not practicing the washing hands ceremony before eating.”

3Well why also do you break God’s commandment because of your tradition?” Yeshua responded. 4[ref]God told us to honour our father and our mother, and also that anyone who speaks evil about their father or mother deserves the death penalty. 5But you all say that anyone who tells their father or mother that whatever help they may have expected from you is now given as a gift, 6then you say that they’re not actually dishonouring their parents. So by saying that, you’re overriding God’s message with your own tradition. 7You hypocrites! The prophet Isayah was right about you all when he wrote:[ref]

8‘These people honour me with their lips,

But their hearts are far away from me.

9Their worship of me is useless,

They teach human ideas as if they’re commandments.’

15Then Farisaios_party and scribes from Hierousalaʸm/(Yərūshālayim) are_approaching the to_Yaʸsous, saying, 2For/Because_ why _reason the apprentices/followers of_you are_breaking_from the tradition of_the elders?
For/Because they_are_ not _washing their hands whenever they_may_be_eating bread.
3And he answering said to_them:
For/Because_ why _reason also you_all are_breaking_from the command of_ the _god because_of the tradition of_you_all?
4For/Because the god commanded saying:
Be_honouring the father and the mother, and:
The one speaking_evil of_father or mother, let_be_dying in_death.
5But you_all are_saying:
Whoever wishfully may_say to_the father or the mother:
Whatever if you_may_be_benefited by me:
A_gift, 6by_no_means he will_ not _be_honouring the father of_him.
And you_all_annulled the message of_ the _god because_of the tradition of_you_all.
7Hypocrites.
Aʸsaias/(Yəshaˊəyāh) rightly prophesied concerning you_all saying, 8- This people is_honouring me the lips, and the heart of_them is_being_away far_away from me.
9And they_are_worshipping me uselessly, teaching teachings as_the_commands of_humans.

15:10 True ‘dirtiness’

(Mark 7:14-23)

10Then Yeshua called out to the crowd, “Listen carefully so you can understand this: 11It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you, but rather, it’s what comes out of your mouth.

12His followers then came up to him and told him, “You know that the Pharisees were offended by what you just said?”

13Every plant,” Yeshua answered, “that wasn’t planted by my heavenly father will get pulled out. 14[ref]Just ignore them. They are blind guides, and if blind people are leading the blind, both of them will stumble into a pit.

15But Peter asked him, “So interpret the parable for us.”

16Can’t you all figure it out yet?” Yeshua replied. 17Can’t you all see that everything that goes into your mouth, goes down into your stomach and then eventually ends up in the toilet? 18[ref]But the things that come out of your mouth are coming from your mind and that’s what defiles a person. 19Because lust, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, stealing, falsely accusing and slander, these all come of the mind. 20It’s those things that defile a person, not eating without ceremonially washing your hands.

10And having_called_to the crowd, he_said to_them:
Be_hearing and be_understanding.
11Not the thing coming_in into the mouth is_defiling the person, but the thing going_out out_of the mouth, this is_defiling the person.
12Then the apprentices/followers having_approached are_saying to_him:
You_have_known that the Farisaios_party having_heard the statement were_offended?
13But he answering said:
Every plant that the the heavenly father of_me not planted will_be_being_uprooted.
14Leave them, they_are blind guides and, if blind may_be_guiding blind, both will_be_falling into a_pit.
15And the Petros answering said to_him:
Interpret the parable to_us.
16And he said:
Are you_all even still unintelligent?
17Are_you_all_understanding not_yet that everything which entering_in into the mouth, is_entering into the stomach, and is_being_thrown_out to the_latrine?
18But the things going_out out_of the mouth, is_coming_out out_of the heart, and_those is_defiling the person.
19For/Because out_of the heart are_coming_out evil speculations, murders, adulteries, sexual_immorality, thefts, false_witnesses, slander.
20These is the things defiling the person, but the one to_eat with_unwashed hands, is_ not _defiling the person.

15:21 The non-Jewish woman with amazing faith

(Mark 7:24-30)

21Then Yeshua left Galilee and went out to the districts of Tyre and Tsidon. 22Then, look, a woman from that area and of Caananite ancestry came to hum and called out, “Master, David’s descendant, my daughter is suffering from demon possession.”

23But Yeshua didn’t even answer her. So his apprentices came up and suggested, “Send her away because she’s still yelling out back there.”

24Yeshua answered, “I was only sent to the lost sheep that descended from Israel.

25But she came and knelt down in front of him, begging, “Master, help me.”

26It’s not good,”, Yeshua responded, “to take the children’s food off them and throw it out to the puppies.

27“True, master,” she said, “but even the puppies eat the little crumbs that fall off their masters’ table.”

28Oh, womanYeshua answered, “you have lots of faith, so what you asked for will become reality.” And so her daughter was healed that very hour.

21And the Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) having_come_out from_there, withdrew to the districts of_Turos/(Tsor) and Sidōn/(Tsīdōn).
22And see, a_ member_of_Kananitaʸs _woman having_come_out from the those regions, was_crying_out saying:
Show_mercy to_me, master, son of_Dawid/(Dāvid), the daughter of_me is_being_ sickly _demon_possessed.
23But he not answered a_message to_her.
And the apprentices/followers of_him having_approached, were_asking him saying:
Send_ her _away, because she_is_crying_out behind us.
24But he answering said:
I_was_ not _sent_out except not/lest to the which having_lost sheep of_the_house of_Israaʸl/(Yisəʼēl).
25But she having_come was_prostrating to_him saying:
master, be_giving_help to_me.
26And he answering said:
It_is not good to_take the bread of_the children and to_throw it to_the little_dogs.
27But she said:
Yes, master, because/for even the little_dogs is_eating of the the little_crumbs which which falling falling from the table of_the masters of_them.
28Then the Yaʸsous answering said to_her:
Oh woman, great is the faith of_you, let_it_be_become to_you as you_are_wanting.
And the daughter of_her was_healed from the that hour.

15:29 Yeshua heals many different afflictions

29Then Yeshua left that place and after walking along Lake Galilee, he climbed up a hill and sat down. 30Big crowds came up to him, bringing those who were lame, maimed, blind, mute, and many others, and they laid them down in front of him and he healed them. 31The crowds marvelled, seeing people speaking that had been mute, and maimed people now healthy, and lame people walking and the blind now seeing, and they praised Israel’s God.

29And the Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) having_departed from_there, came along the sea of_ the _Galilaia/(Gālīl), and having_gone_up on the mountain, he_was_sitting there.
30And great crowds approached to_him, having with themselves lame, maimed, blind, mute, and many others, and they_laid_ them _down before the feet of_him, and he_healed them, 31so_that the crowds to_marvel, seeing mute speaking, maimed healthy, and lame walking, and blind seeing, and they_glorified the god of_Israaʸl/(Yisəʼēl).

15:32 The feeding of 4,000 families

(Mark 8:1-10)

32Then Yeshua called his apprentices and told them, “I feel sorry for this crowd because they’ve been out here with me for three days and haven’t had anything to eat, but I’m not happy to just send them away hungry in case they collapse on the way home.

33“Out here in the wilderness,” replied his apprentices, “where could we possibly get enough bread to feed a crowd this size?”

34How many buns do you have?” asked Yeshua.

Seven,”, they replied, “and a few small fish.”

35Then instructing the crowd to sit down on the ground, 36he took the seven buns and the fish, and gave thanks. Then he broke them and gave the pieces to his apprentices to distribute to the crowds. 37Everyone ate and when they were full, they collected seven baskets full of the leftover food. 38There were about four thousand families there.

39After sending the crowds home, Yeshua got into the boat and they went to the regions of Magadan.

32And the Yaʸsous having_called_to the apprentices/followers of_him said:
I_am_feeling_compassion for the crowd, because already they_are_remaining with_me three days, and they_are_ not _having anything they_may_eat, and I_am_ not _willing to_send_ them _away hungry, lest they_may_be_exhausted on the way.
33And the apprentices/followers are_saying to_him:
From_where to_us in a_wilderness, so_many loaves so_as to_satisfy so_much crowd?
34And the Yaʸsous is_saying to_them:
How_many loaves are_you_all_having?
And they said:
Seven, and a_few little_fishes.
35And having_commanded to_the crowd to_sit_down on the ground, 36he_took the seven loaves and the fishes, and having_given_thanks he_broke them and was_giving them to_the apprentices/followers, and the apprentices/followers to_the crowds.
37And all ate and were_satisfied, and they_took_up seven baskets full, the part of_the fragments being_leftover.
38And the ones eating were four_thousand men, apart_from women and little_children.
39And having_sent_away the crowds, he_boarded into the boat and came to the regions of_Magadan.
