יונה 4 | Jonah 4 | |||
[1] Silluq |
1 But it was displeasing to Jonah [2] exceedingly; [1] to him. [1] |
2 And he prayed to the LORD [4] and he said, [3] wasn’t this what I said [3] when I was still [3] in my own country? [2] to flee to Tarshish; [1] that you [3] are a gracious and compassionate God, [2] and abundant in lovingkindness, [2] of doing harm. [1] |
3 therefore now, LORD, [2] take I beg you, my life [2] from me; [1] it is better for me to die [2] than to live.” [1] ¶ |
[1] Silluq |
4 And the LORD said, [2] “Is it right [2] for you to be angry?” [1] |
5 Then Jonah went out [3] from the city, [2] on the east side of the city; [1] a shelter, [3] in the shade, [2] he might see [2] in the city. [1] |
6 And the LORD God appointed [4 4] a vine, [4] and it went up [4] over Jonah, [3] over his head, [2] from his distress; [1] over the vine [2] a great joy. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
7 But God appointed [3] a worm [2] the next day; [1] and it withered. [1] |
8 And when [4] the sun arose, [3] an east wind, [3] a hot one, [2] on the head of Jonah [2] and he became faint; [1] to die, [2] “It is better for me to die [2] than to live.” [1] |
9 And God said [3] to Jonah, [2] about the vine?” [1] “I am right to be angry, [2] even to death.” [1] |
10 And the LORD said, [2] on the vine, [2] you have not labored, [2] neither made it grow; [1] and perished in a night. [1] |
11 And I, [3] Should I not have compassion [2] the great city; [1] more than two and ten times ten thousand [4] persons, [3] between their right hand and their left hand, [2] many?” [1] |
