1 בְּ֭נִי [3] Dechi
לְחׇכְמָתִ֣י הַקְשִׁ֑יבָה [2] Etnachta
 
לִ֝תְבוּנָתִ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
הַט־אׇזְנֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 1 O my son, [3]
to my wisdom be attentive; [2]
 
to my understanding [2]
incline your ear, [1]
2 לִשְׁמֹ֥ר מְזִמּ֑וֹת [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝דַ֗עַת [2] Revi'i Mugrash
שְׂפָתֶ֥יךָ יִנְצֹֽרוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 2 to maintain discretion; [2]
 
that knowledge, [2]
your lips may preserve. [1]
3 כִּ֤י נֹ֣פֶת תִּ֭טֹּפְנָה [3] Dechi
שִׂפְתֵ֣י זָרָ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וְחָלָ֖ק מִשֶּׁ֣מֶן [2] VRevMug
חִכָּֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 For they drip honey, [3]
the lips of an adulteress; [2]
 
and smoother than oil [2]
is her mouth, [1]
4 וְֽ֭אַחֲרִיתָהּ [3] Dechi
מָרָ֣ה כַֽלַּעֲנָ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
חַ֝דָּ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כְּחֶ֣רֶב פִּיּֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 4 but her end [3]
is bitter as wormwood; [2]
 
sharp [2]
as a two-edged sword. [1]
5 רַ֭גְלֶיהָ [3] Dechi
יֹרְד֣וֹת מָ֑וֶת [2] Etnachta
 
שְׁ֝א֗וֹל [2] Revi'i Mugrash
צְעָדֶ֥יהָ יִתְמֹֽכוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 5 Her feet [3]
go down to death; [2]
 
Sheol, [2]
her steps will achieve. [1]
6 אֹ֣רַח חַ֭יִּים [3] Dechi
פֶּן־תְּפַלֵּ֑ס [2] Etnachta
 
נָע֥וּ מַ֝עְגְּלֹתֶ֗יהָ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א תֵדָֽע׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 6 The path of life [3]
she gives no thought to; [2]
 
her paths wander - [2]
she does not know it. [1]
7 וְעַתָּ֣ה בָ֭נִים [3] Dechi
שִׁמְעוּ־לִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וְאַל־תָּ֝ס֗וּרוּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מֵאִמְרֵי־פִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 7 So now my sons, [3]
listen to me; [2]
 
and do not depart [2]
from the words of my mouth. [1]
8 הַרְחֵ֣ק מֵעָלֶ֣יהָ [3] VDechi
דַרְכֶּ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וְאַל־תִּ֝קְרַ֗ב [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אֶל־פֶּ֥תַח בֵּיתָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 8 Keep far from her [3]
your path; [2]
 
and do not go near [2]
the door of her house, [1]
9 פֶּן־תִּתֵּ֣ן לַאֲחֵרִ֣ים [3] VDechi
הוֹדֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝שְׁנֹתֶ֗יךָ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְאַכְזָרִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 9 lest you give to others [3]
your strength; [2]
 
and your years [2]
to one who is cruel, [1]
10 פֶּֽן־יִשְׂבְּע֣וּ זָרִ֣ים [3] VDechi
כֹּחֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וַ֝עֲצָבֶ֗יךָ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בְּבֵ֣ית נׇכְרִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 10 lest strangers consume [3]
your strength; [2]
 
and your labors [2]
go to another man’s house. [1]
11 וְנָהַמְתָּ֥ בְאַחֲרִיתֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
בִּכְל֥וֹת בְּ֝שָׂרְךָ֗ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וּשְׁאֵרֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 11 and you will groan at your end; [2]
 
when spent is your flesh [2]
and your body, [1]
12 וְֽאָמַרְתָּ֗ [3] Revi'i
אֵ֭יךְ [3] Dechi
שָׂנֵ֣אתִי מוּסָ֑ר [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝תוֹכַ֗חַת [2] Revi'i Mugrash
נָאַ֥ץ לִבִּֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 3 2 12 and you will say, [3]
“How [3]
I hated discipline; [2]
 
and correction [2]
my heart despised, [1]
13 וְֽלֹא־שָׁ֭מַעְתִּי [3] Dechi
בְּק֣וֹל מוֹרָ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝לִֽמְלַמְּדַ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹֽא־הִטִּ֥יתִי אׇזְנִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 13 and I did not listen [3]
to the voice of my teachers; [2]
 
and to my instructors [2]
I did not incline my ear. [1]
14 כִּ֭מְעַט [3] Dechi
הָיִ֣יתִי בְכׇל־רָ֑ע [2] Etnachta
 
בְּת֖וֹךְ קָהָ֣ל [2] VRevMug
וְעֵדָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 14 Almost [3]
was I in utter ruin; [2]
 
among the community [2]
and congregation.” [1]
15 שְׁתֵה־מַ֥יִם מִבּוֹרֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝נֹזְלִ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מִתּ֥וֹךְ בְּאֵרֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 15 Drink water from your own cistern; [2]
 
and running water [2]
from your own well. [1]
16 יָפ֣וּצוּ מַעְיְנֹתֶ֣יךָ [3] VDechi
ח֑וּצָה [2] Etnachta
 
בָּ֝רְחֹב֗וֹת [2] Revi'i Mugrash
פַּלְגֵי־מָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 16 Should your springs overflow [3]
in the streets; [2]
 
in the public squares, [2]
streams of water? [1]
17 יִֽהְיוּ־לְךָ֥ לְבַדֶּ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וְאֵ֖ין לְזָרִ֣ים [2] VRevMug
אִתָּֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 17 Let them belong to you, you alone; [2]
 
and not to strangers [2]
with you. [1]
18 יְהִֽי־מְקוֹרְךָ֥ בָר֑וּךְ [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝שְׂמַ֗ח [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מֵאֵ֥שֶׁת נְעוּרֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 18 May your fountain be blessed; [2]
 
and rejoicing [2]
from the wife of your youth. [1]
19 אַיֶּ֥לֶת אֲהָבִ֗ים [3] Revi'i
וְֽיַעֲלַ֫ת־חֵ֥ן [2] Ole Veyored
 
דַּ֭דֶּיהָ [3] Dechi
יְרַוֻּ֣ךָ בְכׇל־עֵ֑ת [2] Etnachta
 
בְּ֝אַהֲבָתָ֗הּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תִּשְׁגֶּ֥ה תָמִֽיד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 2 19 A lovely deer [3]
and a graceful doe; [2]
 
her breasts, [3]
may they satisfy you at all times, [2]
 
by her love [2]
may you always be captivated. [1]
20 וְלָ֤מָּה תִשְׁגֶּ֣ה בְנִ֣י [3] VDechi
בְזָרָ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝תְחַבֵּ֗ק [2] Revi'i Mugrash
חֵ֣ק נׇכְרִיָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 20 For why should you be intoxicated my son, [3]
with an adulteress; [2]
 
and embrace [2]
the bosom of a stranger? [1]
21 כִּ֤י נֹ֨כַח ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
עֵינֵ֣י יְ֭הֹוָה [3] Dechi
דַּרְכֵי־אִ֑ישׁ [2] Etnachta
 
וְֽכׇל־מַעְגְּלֹתָ֥יו מְפַלֵּֽס׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 21 For before [4]
the eyes of the LORD [3]
are the ways of a man; [2]
 
and all his paths he examines. [1]
22 עֲֽווֹנֹתָ֗יו [3] Revi'i
יִלְכְּדֻנ֥וֹ אֶת־הָרָשָׁ֑ע [2] Etnachta
 
וּבְחַבְלֵ֥י חַ֝טָּאת֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יִתָּמֵֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 22 His iniquities, [3]
they will ensnare the wicked; [2]
 
and by the cords of his sin [2]
he will be held. [1]
23 ה֗וּא [3] Revi'i
יָ֭מוּת [3] Dechi
בְּאֵ֣ין מוּסָ֑ר [2] Etnachta
 
וּבְרֹ֖ב אִוַּלְתּ֣וֹ [2] VRevMug
יִשְׁגֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 3 2 23 He, [3]
he will die [3]
for lack of discipline; [2]
 
and in the greatness of his folly, [2]
he will go astray. [1]
