1 בְּ֭נִי [3] Dechi
אִם־עָרַ֣בְתָּ לְרֵעֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
תָּקַ֖עְתָּ לַזָּ֣ר [2] VRevMug
כַּפֶּֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 1 O my son, [3]
if you have given your pledge to your neighbor; [2]
 
(if) for a stranger you have shaken in pledge [2]
your hands, [1]
2 נוֹקַ֥שְׁתָּ בְאִמְרֵי־פִ֑יךָ [2] Etnachta
 
נִ֝לְכַּ֗דְתָּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בְּאִמְרֵי־פִֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 2 you are trapped by the words of your mouth; [2]
 
you have been ensnared [2]
by the words of your mouth. [1]
3 עֲשֵׂ֨ה זֹ֥את אֵפ֪וֹא ׀ בְּנִ֡י [4] Pazer
וְֽהִנָּצֵ֗ל [3] Revi'i
כִּ֘י בָ֤אתָ בְכַף־רֵעֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
לֵ֥ךְ הִ֝תְרַפֵּ֗ס [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וּרְהַ֥ב רֵעֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 2 3 Then do this my son [4]
and deliver yourself [3]
since you have fallen into the hand of your neighbor; [2]
 
go, humble yourself, [2]
and plead urgently with your neighbor. [1]
4 אַל־תִּתֵּ֣ן שֵׁנָ֣ה [3] VDechi
לְעֵינֶ֑יךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝תְנוּמָ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְעַפְעַפֶּֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 4 Give no sleep [3]
to your eyes; [2]
 
or slumber [2]
to your eyelids. [1]
5 הִ֭נָּצֵל [3] Dechi
כִּצְבִ֣י מִיָּ֑ד [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝כְצִפּ֗וֹר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מִיַּ֥ד יָקֽוּשׁ׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 5 Free yourself [3]
like a gazelle from a hand; [2]
 
and like a bird [2]
from the hand of a fowler. [1]
6 לֵֽךְ־אֶל־נְמָלָ֥ה עָצֵ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
רְאֵ֖ה דְרָכֶ֣יהָ [2] VRevMug
וַחֲכָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 6 Go to the ant O sluggard; [2]
 
consider its ways [2]
and be wise, [1]
7 אֲשֶׁ֖ר אֵֽין־לָ֥הּ קָצִ֗ין [3/2] Revi'i
שֹׁטֵ֥ר וּמֹשֵֽׁל׃ [1] Silluq
2 7 which having no commander, [3/2]
overseer or ruler, [1]
8 תָּכִ֣ין בַּקַּ֣יִץ [3] VDechi
לַחְמָ֑הּ [2] Etnachta
 
אָגְרָ֥ה בַ֝קָּצִ֗יר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מַֽאֲכָלָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 8 it prepares in the summer [3]
its bread; [2]
 
it gathers at the harvest [2]
its food. [1]
9 עַד־מָתַ֖י עָצֵ֥ל ׀ תִּשְׁכָּ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
מָ֝תַ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תָּק֥וּם מִשְּׁנָתֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 9 How long O sluggard will you lie there; [2]
 
when [2]
will you rise from your sleep? [1]
10 מְעַ֣ט שֵׁ֭נוֹת [3] Dechi
מְעַ֣ט תְּנוּמ֑וֹת [2] Etnachta
 
מְעַ֓ט ׀ [2] ShalsheletG
חִבֻּ֖ק יָדַ֣יִם [2] VRevMug
לִשְׁכָּֽב׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 2 10 A little sleep, [3]
a little slumber; [2]
 
a little [2]
folding of the hands [2]
to rest, [1]
11 וּבָֽא־כִמְהַלֵּ֥ךְ רֵאשֶׁ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝מַחְסֹרְךָ֗ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כְּאִ֣ישׁ מָגֵֽן׃ [1] Silluq

2 2 11 and your poverty will come like a thief; [2]
 
and your scarcity [2]
like an armed man. [1]
12 אָדָ֣ם בְּ֭לִיַּעַל [3] Dechi
אִ֣ישׁ אָ֑וֶן [2] Etnachta
 
ה֝וֹלֵ֗ךְ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עִקְּשׁ֥וּת פֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 12 A worthless person, [3]
a man of iniquity; [2]
 
is one who walks [2]
with a perverse mouth, [1]
13 קֹרֵ֣ץ בְּ֭עֵינָו [3] Dechi
מֹלֵ֣ל בְּרַגְלָ֑ו [2] Etnachta
 
מֹ֝רֶ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בְּאֶצְבְּעֹתָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 13 who winks with his eyes, [3]
who signals with his foot; [2]
 
who motions [2]
with his fingers, [1]
14 תַּ֥הְפֻּכ֨וֹת ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
בְּלִבּ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i
 
חֹרֵ֣שׁ רָ֣ע [3] VDechi
בְּכׇל־עֵ֑ת [2] Etnachta
 
*מדנים **מִדְיָנִ֥ים יְשַׁלֵּֽחַ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 14 (with) perverseness [4]
in his heart, [3]
 
who devises evil [3]
continually; [2]
 
who sows discord. [1]
15 עַל־כֵּ֗ן [3] Revi'i
פִּ֭תְאֹם [3] Dechi
יָב֣וֹא אֵיד֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
פֶּ֥תַע יִ֝שָּׁבֵ֗ר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וְאֵ֣ין מַרְפֵּֽא׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 3 2 15 Therefore [3]
suddenly [3]
his disaster will come; [2]
 
in an instant he will be broken, [2]
and with no remedy. [1]
16 שֶׁשׁ־הֵ֭נָּה [3] Dechi
שָׂנֵ֣א יְהֹוָ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝שֶׁ֗בַע [2] Revi'i Mugrash
*תועבות **תּוֹעֲבַ֥ת נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 16 These six things [3]
the LORD hates; [2]
 
and seven [2]
are an abomination to his soul, [1]
17 עֵינַ֣יִם רָ֭מוֹת [3] Dechi
לְשׁ֣וֹן שָׁ֑קֶר [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝יָדַ֗יִם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
שֹׁפְכ֥וֹת דָּם־נָקִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 17 haughty eyes, [3]
a lying tongue; [2]
 
and hands [2]
that shed innocent blood, [1]
18 לֵ֗ב [3] Revi'i
חֹ֭רֵשׁ [3] Dechi
מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת אָ֑וֶן [2] Etnachta
 
רַגְלַ֥יִם מְ֝מַהֲר֗וֹת [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לָר֥וּץ לָֽרָעָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 3 2 18 a heart [3]
that devises [3]
wicked schemes; [2]
 
feet that are quick [2]
to rush into evil, [1]
19 יָפִ֣יחַ כְּ֭זָבִים [3] Dechi
עֵ֣ד שָׁ֑קֶר [2] Etnachta
 
וּמְשַׁלֵּ֥חַ מְ֝דָנִ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בֵּ֣ין אַחִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 19 he who breathes out lies, [3]
who testifies falsely; [2]
 
and one who sows discord [2]
among brothers. [1]
20 נְצֹ֣ר בְּ֭נִי [3] Dechi
מִצְוַ֣ת אָבִ֑יךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וְאַל־תִּ֝טֹּ֗שׁ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תּוֹרַ֥ת אִמֶּֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 20 Keep O my son [3]
the commandment of your father; [2]
 
and do not forsake [2]
the teaching of your mother. [1]
21 קׇשְׁרֵ֣ם עַל־לִבְּךָ֣ [3] VDechi
תָמִ֑יד [2] Etnachta
 
עׇ֝נְדֵ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עַל־גַּרְגְּרֹתֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 21 Bind them on your heart [3]
continually; [2]
 
tie them [2]
around your neck. [1]
22 בְּהִתְהַלֶּכְךָ֨ ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
תַּנְחֶ֬ה אֹתָ֗ךְ [3] Revi'i
 
בְּֽ֭שׇׁכְבְּךָ [3] Dechi
תִּשְׁמֹ֣ר עָלֶ֑יךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וַ֝הֲקִיצ֗וֹתָ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
הִ֣יא תְשִׂיחֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 2 22 When you walk [4]
it will guide you, [3]
 
when you lie down [3]
it will watch over you; [2]
 
and when you awake [2]
it, it will speak to you. [1]
23 כִּ֤י נֵ֣ר מִ֭צְוָה [3] Dechi
וְת֣וֹרָה א֑וֹר [2] Etnachta
 
וְדֶ֥רֶךְ חַ֝יִּ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תּוֹכְח֥וֹת מוּסָֽר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 23 For a lamp is the commandment, [3]
and the Torah a light; [2]
 
and the path of life [2]
are the corrections of discipline, [1]
24 לִ֭שְׁמׇרְךָ [3] Dechi
מֵאֵ֣שֶׁת רָ֑ע [2] Etnachta
 
מֵ֝חֶלְקַ֗ת [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לָשׁ֥וֹן נׇכְרִיָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 24 to keep you [3]
from the immoral woman; [2]
 
from the flattery [2]
of a wayward woman’s tongue. [1]
25 אַל־תַּחְמֹ֣ד יׇ֭פְיָהּ [3] Dechi
בִּלְבָבֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וְאַל־תִּ֝קָּחֲךָ֗ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בְּעַפְעַפֶּֽיהָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 25 Don’t desire her beauty [3]
in your heart; [2]
 
and don't let her captivate you [2]
with her eyelids. [1]
26 כִּ֤י בְעַד־אִשָּׁ֥ה זוֹנָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
עַֽד־כִּכַּ֫ר לָ֥חֶם [2] Ole Veyored
 
וְאֵ֥שֶׁת אִ֑ישׁ [2] Etnachta
נֶ֖פֶשׁ יְקָרָ֣ה [2] VRevMug
תָצֽוּד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 2 26 For the price of a prostitute [3]
is a loaf of bread; [2]
 
but a married woman, [2]
a precious life [2]
she hunts. [1]
27 הֲיַחְתֶּ֤ה אִ֓ישׁ אֵ֬שׁ בְּחֵיק֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝בְגָדָ֗יו [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א תִשָּׂרַֽפְנָה׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap; [2]
 
and his clothes, [2]
will they not be burned? [1]
28 אִם־יְהַלֵּ֣ךְ אִ֭ישׁ [3] Dechi
עַל־הַגֶּחָלִ֑ים [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝רַגְלָ֗יו [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א תִכָּוֶֽינָה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 28 Or can a man walk [3]
on hot coals; [2]
 
and his feet [2]
will they not be scorched? [1]
29 כֵּ֗ן [3] Revi'i
הַ֭בָּא [3] Dechi
אֶל־אֵ֣שֶׁת רֵעֵ֑הוּ [2] Etnachta
 
לֹ֥א יִ֝נָּקֶ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כׇּֽל־הַנֹּגֵ֥עַ בָּֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 3 2 29 So [3]
is the one who goes in [3]
to his neighbor’s wife; [2]
 
he will not go unpunished, [2]
whoever touches her. [1]
30 לֹא־יָב֣וּזוּ לַ֭גַּנָּב [3] Dechi
כִּ֣י יִגְנ֑וֹב [2] Etnachta
 
לְמַלֵּ֥א נַ֝פְשׁ֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כִּ֣י יִרְעָֽב׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 30 Men don’t despise a thief [3]
when he steals; [2]
 
to satisfy himself [2]
when he is hungry, [1]
31 וְ֭נִמְצָא [3] Dechi
יְשַׁלֵּ֣ם שִׁבְעָתָ֑יִם [2] Etnachta
 
אֶת־כׇּל־ה֖וֹן בֵּית֣וֹ [2] VRevMug
יִתֵּֽן׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 31 but if he is caught, [3]
he shall restore seven times; [2]
 
all the wealth of his house [2]
he shall give. [1]
32 נֹאֵ֣ף אִשָּׁ֣ה [3] VDechi
חֲסַר־לֵ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
מַֽשְׁחִ֥ית נַ֝פְשׁ֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
ה֣וּא יַעֲשֶֽׂנָּה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 32 One who commits adultery with a woman [3]
is void of understanding; [2]
 
one who destroys his own soul [2]
is he who does it. [1]
33 נֶגַע־וְקָל֥וֹן יִמְצָ֑א [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝חֶרְפָּת֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א תִמָּחֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 33 He will find wounds and dishonor; [2]
 
and his reproach, [2]
it will not be wiped away. [1]
34 כִּֽי־קִנְאָ֥ה חֲמַת־גָּ֑בֶר [2] Etnachta
 
וְלֹא־יַ֝חְמ֗וֹל [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בְּי֣וֹם נָקָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 34 For jealousy arouses the fury of a man; [2]
 
and he will show no mercy [2]
in the day of vengeance. [1]
35 לֹֽא־יִ֭שָּׂא [3] Dechi
פְּנֵ֣י כׇל־כֹּ֑פֶר [2] Etnachta
 
וְלֹֽא־יֹ֝אבֶ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כִּ֣י תַרְבֶּה־שֹּֽׁחַד׃ [1] Silluq
פ
2 3 2 35 He won’t accept [3]
any compensation; [2]
 
and he will refuse [2]
however much you offer as a bribe. [1]
