DefinitionShort: the process of indulging in or procuring the satisfaction of certain desires or needs

        Glosses: ['gratification', 'indulgence']

Comments: There have been extensive differences of opinion with regard to the precise meaning of πλησμονή and of σάρξ in {S:05100202300038}. Some early Greek exegetes understood this passage to involve ‘gratification of physical needs,’ but since σάρξ seemingly needs to be understood in a bad sense, the meaning of ‘indulgence’ seems to be more appropriate. The meaning of ‘indulgence’ can be expressed in some languages as ‘to give in to’ or ‘to surrender to’ or ‘to permit oneself to enjoy.’
