Testing yourselves

This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.

Readers’ Version

Literal Version

13:1 Testing yourselves

13This is the third time that I’ll be coming there to you all. ‘Every account must be confirmed by at least two, preferably three, witnesses.’[ref] 2I said previously on my second visit and while I’m absent I’ll say it again to those who sinned previously and to all the rest as well: if I come back to find the same again, I won’t be sparing anyone, 3because you’re all wanting proof that I speak from Messiah who isn’t incapable of handling you all but is quite able to do what he wants. 4Although he was executed in weakness, now he’s living by God’s power. We also falter in him, but will be living with him by God’s power towards you all.

5Test yourselves to check if you’re living in the faith—you yourselves can decide that. Or can’t you all recognise whether or not Messiah Yeshua is living in you? Surely you’re not that unqualified? 6But I’m hoping that you all will know that we’re not unqualified. 7And we’re asking God that you won’t do evil—not so that we’ll be seen to be approved, but so that you all will be doing good, even if we may seem unqualified, 8because we’re not able to do anything against the truth—only for the truth. 9So we’re glad whenever we falter, but you all might be quite capable as we also desire that you all grow to perfection. 10I’m writing these things while I’m absent, so that when I’m present I won’t have to treat you all severely according to the authority that the master gave me for building and not for tearing down.

13:1: Deu 17:6; 19:15.

13Third time this I_am_coming to you_all.
In of_two the_mouth witnesses and three will_be_being_established every message.
2I_have_previously_said and I_am_previously_saying, as being_present the second time, and being_absent now to_the ones having_previously_sinned, and to_the rest all, that if I_may_come to the same again, not I_will_be_sparing anyone.
3Because proof you_all_are_seeking which in me speaking of_chosen_one/messiah, who toward you_all not is_faltering, but is_able among you_all.
4For/Because also he_was_executed_on_a_stake of weakness, but is_living by the_power of_god.
For/Because also we are_faltering in him, but we_will_be_living with him by the_power of_god toward you_all.
5Yourselves be_testing whether you_all_are in the faith, yourselves be_approving.
Or not you_all_are_recognizing yourselves, that chosen_one/messiah Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) in you_all, if surely_not unqualified you_all_are?
6But I_am_hoping that you_all_will_be_knowing that we not are unqualified.
7And we_are_hoping to the god not to_do to_you_all evil nothing, not in_order_that we approved may_be_seen, but in_order_that you_all the good may_be_doing, and we as unqualified may_be.
8For/Because not we_are_being_able to_do anything against the truth, but for the truth.
9For/Because we_are_rejoicing whenever we may_be_faltering, but you_all powerful may_be.
This also we_are_hoping, the of_you_all completion.
10Because_of this these things being_absent I_am_writing, in_order_that being_present not severely I_may_give_treatment, according_to the authority that the master gave to_me for building and not for tearing_down.
