Definition: the state of brightness or shining

Notes: In a number of languages a clear distinction is made between some object which is bright in and of itself (that is to say, the source of brightness or radiance) and objects which are bright because they reflect light from some source. In the case of OET MAT 17:5 (which is generally regarded as a reference to the Shekinah presence of God), the cloud would not be merely reflecting light but would be a source of light (see 14.50: λαμπρός / 14.50: λευκός / 14.50: φωτεινός).
