Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #135388

← אֲמִיתֵךְ ⌂ → 1 Sam 19 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 17 And_ Shāʼūl/(Saul) _he/it_said to Mīkāl to/for_what thus have_you_deceived_me and_you_have_let_go DOM enemy_of_my and_he_has_escaped and_ Mīkāl _she/it_said to Shāʼūl he he_said to_me let_me_go why will_I_kill_you. (SA1 19:17)

OET-RV: 17 Sha’ul had Mikal brought in and questioned, “Why did you deceive me like that and sent my enemy off, so that he slipped away?”
¶ “He told me that he’d kill me,” Michal answered Sha’ul, “if I didn’t help him escape.” (SA1 19:17)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.
