3 But know this, that in the last days difficult times will come; 2 for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of good, 4 traitorous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power; and avoid such people.
6 For among them are those who creep into households and captivate weak women, burdened with sins, led away by various desires, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind, disqualified concerning the faith. 9 But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as theirs was.
10 But you have followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me.
12 And indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
13 But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
14 But you, remain in what you have learned and have become convinced of, knowing from whom you learned it, 15 and that from infancy you have known, [the][fn] sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16 Every scripture is God-breathed[fn] and beneficial for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that the person of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
