Ἑβραϊκός

Form 1

Part of speech: adjc.

Inflections: Ἑβραϊκός; -ή, -όν

Sense 1: Hebrew

Semantic entry: 93.104

Semantic domains: Names of Persons and Places

Subdomains: Persons

Definition: (derivative of Εβραῖος ‘a Hebrew,’ 93.105: Ἑβραῖος) pertaining to the Hebrews (OET LUK 23:38, apparatus)

Notes: The addition of γράμμασιν in some manuscripts literally applies to Hebrew letters, though the reference seems to be to the language, probably Aramaic. In OET ACT 21:40 · OET ACT 22:2 · OET ACT 26:14 a peculiar form of Ἑβραϊκός occurs, namely, Ἑβραΐδι. Scholars, however, explain it as from Ἑβραΐς, relating it to Εβραῖος (93.105: Ἑβραῖος).
