Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #211189

← לוֹ ⌂ → 2 Chr 25 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 16 And_he/it_was when_he_was_speaking to_him/it and_he/it_said to_him/it into_a_counsellor to/for_the_king have_we_made_you cease to/for_yourself(m) to/for_what will_people_strike_you_down and_ the_prophet _he_ceased and_he/it_said I_know if/because_that god he_has_planned to_destroy_you if/because you_have_done this and_not you_have_listened to_counsel_of_my. (CH2 25:16)

OET-RV: 16 While he was still speaking, the king snapped at him, “Who asked you to be my counsellor? Stop right this minute or they’ll strike you down!”
 ¶ So the prophet stopped talking, but then he added, “I know that God has decided to destroy you because you’ve done that, and because you didn’t listen to my advice.” (CH2 25:16)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘לוֹ’ (Morphology=R PoS=preposition
 Morphology=Sp3ms PoS=pronominal_suffix Person=third Gender=masculine Number=singular)
is always and only glossed as ‘to_him / it’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘לְ’, ‘הוּא’’ have only one gloss: ‘to=him/it’.
