Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #18712

← וַיָּבֹא ⌂ → Gen 38 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 18 And_he/it_said what is_the_pledge which I_will_give to_you and_she/it_said seal_of_your and_cord_of_your and_staff_of_your which is_in_hand_of_your and_he_gave_them to_her and_he_went to_her/it and_she/it_conceived/became_pregnant to_him/it. (GEN 38:18)

OET-RV: 18 “What pledge should I give you?” he asked.
¶ “Your signet ring and its cord, and your staff that you’re holding.” So he handed them to her and went and lay with her, and she became pregnant as a result. (GEN 38:18)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.
