Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #285214

← הַהוּא ⌂ → Isa 5 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 30 And_it_will_growl on/upon/above_him/it in_the_day (the)_that like_the_growling_of the_sea and_someone_will_look to_land and_BEHOLD/LO/SEE darkness distress and_light it_has_become_dark by_clouds_of_its. (ISA 5:30)

OET-RV:  ⇔  30 They will roar above their prey on that day,
 ⇔ ≈ like the roaring of the ocean.
 ⇔ If someone looks across the land they’d only see darkness and distress.
 ⇔ ≈ The light has been darkened by the clouds. (ISA 5:30)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘הַהוּא’ (Morphology=Td PoS=definite_article
 Morphology=Pp3ms PoS=personal_pronoun Person=third Gender=masculine Number=singular)
is always and only glossed as ‘(the)_that’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘הַ’, ‘הוּא’’ have only one gloss: ‘(the)=that’.
