Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #110826

← מֵעַל ⌂ → Jos 23 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 15 And_it_was just_as it_has_come on_you(pl) every_of (the)_message (the)_good which YHWH god_of_your(pl) he_spoke to_you(pl) so YHWH he_will_bring on_you(pl) DOM every_of (the)_message (the)_bad until he_has_destroyed you(pl) from_under the_soil (the)_good (the)_this which he_has_given to/for_you(pl) YHWH god_of_your(pl). (JOS 23:15)

OET-RV: 15 And just like all those good things came true, so too Yahweh will send all the punishments he promised you all if you disobey him, even if it means that he destroys you all from this good land that he’s given you. (JOS 23:15)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘מֵעַל’ (Morphology=R PoS=preposition
 Morphology=R PoS=preposition)
is always and only glossed as ‘from_under’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘מִן’, ‘עַל’’ have only one gloss: ‘from=under’.
