Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #54625

← לִפְנֵי ⌂ → Lev 16 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 13 And_he/it_gave DOM the_incense on the_fire to_(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before YHWH and_it_will_cover the_cloud_of the_incense DOM the_atonement_cover which is_on the_transcript and_not he_will_die. (LEV 16:13)

OET-RV: 13 where he’ll put the incense on the coals in Yahweh’s presence. Then the smoke cloud from the incense will cover the atonement lid on the sacred chest, and he won’t die. (LEV 16:13)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘לִפְנֵי’ (Morphology=R PoS=preposition
 Morphology=Ncbpc PoS=common_noun Gender=both Number=plural State=construct)
is always and only glossed as ‘to_(the)_face_of / in_front_of / before’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘לְ’, ‘פָּנֶה’’ have only one gloss: ‘to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before’.
