Leaving worldly desires behind

This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.

Readers’ Version

Literal Version

4:1 Leaving worldly desires behind

4Since the messiah suffered physically, you all also should cultivate the same intention, because anyone who suffers physically stops sinning 2so that they can live their remaining physical lives obeying God’s will instead of worldly lusts 3because enough time has been spent listening to worldly advice and having pursued immorality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and repulsive idolatry. 4The unbelievers will be surprised that you’re all not joining them in that unrestrained, wild living and they’ll mock you, 5but they will need to give an account for their actions to the one who is ready to judge both the living and the dead. 6That’s why the good message was preached even to the dead, so that people might judge them by earthly standards

7The end of everything is getting close, so make good decisions and be serious in prayer, 8[ref]and more than anything, display genuine love to each other because love triumphs over many sins. 9Show hospitality to each other without grumbling. 10Whatever gift that each person has received, they should use it to serve the others as good managers of the various forms of grace that God has given us. 11Anyone who shares wisdom that came from God or uses the strength that God has given them to serve others needs to be honouring God through Yeshua the messiah. He’s the one who deserves the honour and the power all through the ages.

4Therefore chosen_one/messiah having_suffered in_the_flesh, also you_all arm the same intention, because the one having_suffered in_the_flesh has_ceased from_sin, 2in_order that to_live the remaining time in the_flesh no_longer to_lusts of_the_people, but to_the_will of_god.
3For/Because the having_passed_by time is sufficient to_have_produced the counsel of_the pagans, having_pursued in wantonness, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking_parties, and unlawful idolatries.
4With which they_are_being_surprised, not running_together of_you_all into the same of_ the _intemperance pouring_out, slandering, 5who will_be_giving_back an_account to_the one ready to_judge the_living and the_dead.
6For/Because to this end was_good_message_preached even to_the_dead, in_order_that they_may_be_judged on_one_hand according_to humans in_the_flesh, on_the_other_hand may_be_living according_to god in_the_spirit.
7And the end of_all things has_neared.
Therefore be_sensible and be_sober for the_prayers, 8before all things, having the earnest love among yourselves, because love is_covering a_multitude of_sins, 9be hospitable to one_another apart_from grumbling, 10each one as he_received a_gift, serving it to yourselves, as good managers of_the_various grace of_god.
11If anyone is_speaking, as oracles of_god, if anyone is_serving, as of strength of_which the god is_supplying, in_order_that in all things the god may_be_being_glorified through Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) chosen_one/messiah, to_whom is the glory and the power to the ages of_the ages.
Truly.
