Luke 8:22–25

Mark 4:35–41

Mat 8:23–27

8:22 Yeshua’s power over the wind and waves

(Mark 4:35-41, Mat. 8:23-27)

22One day Yeshua and his apprentices got into a boat and he asked them to go across to the other side of Lake Galilee. So they set off 23but once they were moving, Yeshua fell asleep. The a big storm descended onto the lake and the boat was being swamped by the waves and they were in danger of sinking. 24The apprentices went and woke Yeshua, “Master, we’re going to drown!”

Now awake, he spoke sternly to the wind and the waves in the lake, and they stopped and it became calm. 25Where’s your faith?” he asked them.

From being terrified, they were now astounded and asked each other, “Who is this guy really? He can just tell the wind and the water what to do, and they obey him!”

4:35 Yeshua halts the storm on the lake

(Mat. 8:23-27, Luke 8:22-25)

35It was already becoming evening on that day, so Yeshua said to his apprentices, “Let’s all go across to the other shore.36So they left the crowd behind and got into the boat with him. 37Out in the lake a big storm came up with strong winds, and the waves started breaking across the boat and filling it. 38But Yeshua slept on in the back, sleeping on a cushion. They woke him and cried, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re all about to drown?”

39Now awake, Yeshua scolded the wind and waves, “Quieten down! Stop that!” Then the wind died down and the water became very calm. 40And turning back to them he asked, “Why were you all so afraid? Don’t you have any faith yet?

41But now they were very afraid again and asked each other, “Who could this man be that both the wind and waves obey him?”

8:23 Yeshua commands the wind

(Mark 4:35-41, Luke 8:22-25)

23Then Yeshua and his apprentices followed him and got into the boat and launched it. 24Then wow, a huge storm rose up on the lake and the waves started coming into the boat, but Yeshua was asleep. 25They woke him up and pleaded, “Master, save us, we’re going to drown.”

26What are you worried about,”, asked Yeshua, “you who don’t have much faith.” Then he stood up and told the winds and the water to stop, and the lake became very calm.

27The people were astonished and asked, “What kind of man is this that the winds and the lake just do what he says?”
