BACENOR

One of Judas Maccabeus’s officers, according to 2 Maccabees 12:35. The name, however, can be shown to be a corrupt form of “Toubiani,” so that the verse should read, “Dositheus, a Toubian, who was on horseback” (see 2 Macc 12:17).

35 A certain Dositheos, one of Bacenor’s company, who was on horseback and was a strong man, pressed hard on Gorgias, and taking hold of his cloak dragged him along by main force. While he planned to take the accursed man alive, one of the Thracian cavalry bore down on him and disabled his shoulder, and so Gorgias escaped to Mareshah.
