Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #14308

← וְלֹא ⌂ → Gen 30 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 40 And_the_young_rams Yaˊₐqoⱱ/(Jacob) he_separated and_he/it_gave the_faces_of the_flock to the_striped and_all dark_one among_the_flock_of Lāⱱān and_he_made to_him/it flocks for_him/it_being_alone and_not he_put_them with the_flock_of Lāⱱān. (GEN 30:40)

OET-RV: 40 Then Yacob separated out those young animals into a separate flock, and he made the older flocks look at the streaked and all the dark-coloured animals in Lavan’s flocks. So he kept his own flocks by themselves and didn’t mix them with Lavan’s flocks. (GEN 30:40)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘וְלֹא’ (Morphology=C PoS=conjunction
 Morphology=Tn PoS=negative_particle)
is always and only glossed as ‘and_not’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘וְ’, ‘לֹא’’ have only one gloss: ‘and=not’.
