Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #298246

← וְלֹא ⌂ → Isa 46 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 7 they_lift_it_up on a_shoulder they_carry_it and_they_set_it_down in_its_place and_it_stands from_place_of_its not it_departs also he_cries_out to_him/it and_not it_answers from_trouble_of_his not it_delivers_him. (ISA 46:7)

OET-RV: 7 They lift it up and carry it on their shoulders,
 ⇔ and then they put it down in its place.
 ⇔ It stands there and never leaves.
 ⇔ They call out to it for help but it doesn’t answer—
 ⇔ it won’t rescue them from their troubles. (ISA 46:7)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘וְלֹא’ (Morphology=C PoS=conjunction
 Morphology=Tn PoS=negative_particle)
is always and only glossed as ‘and_not’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘וְ’, ‘לֹא’’ have only one gloss: ‘and=not’.
