Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #164386

← וַיֵּלֶךְ ⌂ → 1 Ki 12 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 16 And_ all_of Yisrāʼēl/(Israel) _he/it_saw if/because_that not the_king he_had_listened to_them and_ the_people _they_brought_back DOM the_king message to_say what to/for_ourselves portion in_Dāvid and_not an_inheritance in_the_son_of Yishay/(Jesse) to_tents_of_your Oh_Yisrāʼēl/(Israel) now consider house_of_your_own Oh_Dāvid and_ Yisrāʼēl/(Israel) _he/it_went to_tents_of_its. (KI1 12:16)

OET-RV: 16 When all Yisrael saw that the king hadn’t listened to them, the people responded,
⇔ “What share in David do we have?
 ⇔ ≈ We won’t get any inheritance from Yishay’s (Jesse’s) son.
⇔ Go back to your tents, Yisrael.
⇔ Look at your dynasty now, David.”
¶ So the northern Israeli leaders went home again. (KI1 12:16)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.
