Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 28 And_the_report it_came to Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) if/because Yōʼāⱱ he_had_turned_aside after ʼAdoniyyāh and_after ʼAⱱīshālōm not he_had_turned_aside and_ Yōʼāⱱ _he_fled to the_tent_of YHWH and_he_took_hold on_the_horns_of the_altar. (KI1 2:28)

OET-RV: 28 ⇔When the news of that reached Yoav (Joab), he fled to Yahweh’s tent and held onto the horns of the altar, because he had supported Adoniyah (even though he hadn’t supported Avshalom (Absalom)). (KI1 2:28)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.
