OET (OET-RV) When the news of that reached Yoav, he fled to Yahweh’s tent and held onto the horns of the altar, because he had supported Adoniyah (even though he hadn’t supported Avshalom).

וְהַשְּׁמֻעָה֙ בָּ֣אָה עַד־יוֹאָ֔ב כִּ֣י יוֹאָ֗ב נָטָה֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י אֲדֹנִיָּ֔ה וְאַחֲרֵ֥י אַבְשָׁל֖וֹם לֹ֣א נָטָ֑ה

If it would be more natural in your language, you could put the first phrase at the end, since the next two phrases give the reason for the result that the first phrase describes. Alternate translation: [And since Joab had turned aside after Adonijah, though he had not turned aside after Absalom, the report came to Joab]

The author is speaking of the report as if it were a living thing that could travel to Joab. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [And someone reported these things to Joab]

The phrase turned aside speaks of loyalty here as if it were a path that a person could walk on. Earlier, Joab had not stopped being loyal to David and become loyal to Absalom instead. However, Joab had now stopped being loyal to King David (who wanted Solomon to be king) and had become loyal to Adonijah instead. That is what the author means. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [Joab had stopped being loyal to David and to Solomon, his chosen king, and had become loyal instead to Adonijah, even though earlier he had not stopped being loyal to David and become loyal to Absalom]

See how you translated the similar expression in [1:50](../01/50.md). Alternate translation: [and he grasped the horns of the altar to claim the right of safety within the sanctuary]

OET (OET-RV) When the news of that reached Yoav, he fled to Yahweh’s tent and held onto the horns of the altar, because he had supported Adoniyah (even though he hadn’t supported Avshalom).
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
