Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #175456

← וָמַתְנוּ ⌂ → 2 Ki 7 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 4 If we_said we_will_enter the_city and_the_famine is_in_city and_we_will_die there and_if we_sat here and_we_will_die and_now come and_let_us_fall to the_camp_of ʼArām if they_will_let_us_live we_will_live and_if they_will_put_us_to_death and_we_will_die. (KI2 7:4)

OET-RV: 4 If we go into the city, we’ll starve to death in there, but if we sit here, we’ll die anyway. Why don’t we go into the Aramean army camp—if they kill us then we’ll die, but if they let us live, then we’ll live.” (KI2 7:4)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘וָמַתְנוּ’ (Morphology=C PoS=conjunction
 Morphology=Vqq1cp PoS=qal_verb Type=sequential_perfect_(weqatal) Person=first Gender=common Number=plural)
is always and only glossed as ‘and, we_will_die’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘וְ’, ‘מוּת’’ have only one gloss: ‘and,we_will_die’.
