Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #224335

← וַיְהִי ⌂ → Neh 7 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 7 And_he/it_was just_as the_wall it_had_been_rebuilt and_I_had_set_up the_doors and_ the_gatekeepers and_the_singers and_the_Lēviyyiy _they_had_been_appointed. (NEH 7:1)

OET-RV: 7 Once the wall had been rebuilt and the doors hung in the gates, the gatekeepers and the singers and the Levites had been appointed. (NEH 7:1)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘וַיְהִי’ (Morphology=C PoS=conjunction
 Morphology=Vqw3ms PoS=qal_verb Type=sequential_imperfect_(wayyiqtol) Person=third Gender=masculine Number=singular)
is always and only glossed as ‘and_he / it_was’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘וְ’, ‘הָיָה’’ have only one gloss: ‘and=he/it_was’.
