Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #131939

← וַיִּשְׁחֲטוּ ⌂ → 1 Sam 14 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 34 And_ Shāʼūl _he/it_said be_scattered among_people and_you(pl)_will_say to/for_them bring_near to_me each_one ox_of_his and_each_one sheep_of_his and_you(pl)_will_slaughter_it in_this_place and_you(pl)_will_eat_it and_not you(pl)_will_sin to/for_YHWH by_eating with the_blood and_ all_of the_people _they_brought_near each_one ox_of_his by_hand_of_his the_night and_they_slaughtered_it there. (SA1 14:34)

OET-RV: 34 Then he said, “Go out among the warriors and tell them to bring their animals over here to slaughter and to eat, so they don’t sin against Yahweh by eating meat with the blood still in it.” So the people brought their animals over and slaughtered them there. (SA1 14:34)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.
