4 Therefore, let us fear, lest anyone of you should seem to have fallen short of the promise of entering into His rest, having been left behind.
2 For we have been given the good news just as they were; but the word they heard did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith in those who heard.
3 For we who have believed enter into [the][fn] rest, just as he has said, “As I swore in my wrath, ‘They shall not enter into my rest,’”[fn] although his works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For somewhere it has said about the seventh day in this way, “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works,”[fn] 5 and in this again, “If they will enter into my rest.”[fn]
6 Therefore, since it remains for some to enter into it, and those who were previously told the good news did not enter because of disobedience, 7 again, a certain day is designated, “Today,” saying in David after so much time, as it has been [previously][fn] said, “Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”[fn]
8 For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward about another day. 9 So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.
10 For the one who has entered into his rest has also rested from his works, just as God did from his own.
11 Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.
12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of [[both]][fn] soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
13 And there is no creature hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid bare to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
14 Therefore, having a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the son of God, let us hold fast to our confession.
15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been {tempted}[fn] in every way, just as we are, yet without sin.
16 Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
