Beware of the Scribes
In the hearing of all the people, [Jesus] said to His disciples,[fn] 46 “Beware of the scribes. They like to walk around in long robes, and they love [the] greetings in the marketplaces, [the] chief seats in the synagogues, and [the] places of honor at banquets. 47 [They] defraud widows [of their] houses,[fn] and for a show vvv make lengthy prayers. These [men] will receive greater condemnation.” 21
