Name of a resident of the island of Malta, mentioned in Acts 28:7-8. He hosted Paul and others briefly after a shipwreck had stranded them on the island as they journeyed to Rome. Publius bore a title that indicated he was an important official on Malta at the time. His ailing father was healed by Paul during the visit.
