Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #13926

← וַתֹּאמֶר ⌂ → Gen 30 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 18 And_ Lēʼāh _she/it_said god he_has_given reward_of_my that I_gave maidservant_of_my to_husband_of_my and_she/it_called/named his/its_name Yissāskār/(Issachar). (GEN 30:18)

OET-RV: 18 saying, “God has given me my reward because I gave my slave to my husband to sleep with.” So she named him ‘Yissakar’ (which means ‘reward’). (GEN 30:18)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘וַתֹּאמֶר’ (Morphology=C PoS=conjunction
 Morphology=Vqw3fs PoS=qal_verb Type=sequential_imperfect_(wayyiqtol) Person=third Gender=feminine Number=singular)
is always and only glossed as ‘and_she / it_said’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘וְ’, ‘אָמַר’’ have only one gloss: ‘and=she/it_said’.
