Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #2517

← תְּכַלֶנָּה ⌂ → Gen 6 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 16 A_roof you_will_make for_box and_near/to a_cubit you_will_finish_it from_to_above and_the_entrance_of the_box in_side_of_its you_will_put lower_decks second_decks and_third_decks you_will_make_it. (GEN 6:16)

OET-RV: 16 It must have a roof, but the last half a metre between the sides and the roof should remain open. Put the door in its side, and build lower, middle, and upper decks. (GEN 6:16)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘תְּכַלֶנָּה’ (Morphology=Vpi2ms PoS=piel_verb Type=imperfect_(yiqtol) Person=second Gender=masculine Number=singular
 Morphology=Sp3fs PoS=pronominal_suffix Person=third Gender=feminine Number=singular)
is always and only glossed as ‘you, will_finish_it’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘כָּלָה’, ‘הוּא’’ have only one gloss: ‘you,will_finish_it’.
