Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #120597

← וְאִנָּעֵר ⌂ → Jdg 16 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 20 And_she/it_said the_Fəlishtiy are_on_you Oh_Shimshvōn/(Samson) and_he_awoke from_sleep_of_his and_he/it_said I_will_go_out as_time on_time and_I_will_shake_myself_free and_he not he_knew if/because_that YHWH he_had_departed from_with_him. (JDG 16:20)

OET-RV: 20 Then she said, “The Philistines are here to get you, Shimshon!” He woke up and thought to himself, “I’ll escape like all the other times and I’ll shake myself loose.” But he didn’t know that Yahweh had left him. (JDG 16:20)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘וְאִנָּעֵר’ (Morphology=C PoS=conjunction
 Morphology=VNi1cs PoS=niphal_verb Type=imperfect_(yiqtol) Person=first Gender=common Number=singular)
is always and only glossed as ‘and, I_will_shake_myself_free’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘וְ’, ‘נָעַר’’ have only one gloss: ‘and,I_will_shake_myself_free’.
