Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #60960

← וְלֹא ⌂ → Lev 27 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 28 Nevertheless every_of devoted_thing which anyone he_will_dedicate_to_destruction to/for_YHWH from_all that to_him/it from_humankind and_livestock and_from_the_field_of his_possession_of_his not it_will_be_sold and_not it_will_be_redeemed every_of devoted_thing is_a_holy_thing_of holy_things it to/for_YHWH. (LEV 27:28)

OET-RV: 28 If someone dedicates something to Yahweh that they own (e.g., a man or an animal, or a field), they can’t then sell it or buy it straight back—everything that’s dedicated like that becomes sacred to Yahweh. (LEV 27:28)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘וְלֹא’ (Morphology=C PoS=conjunction
 Morphology=Tn PoS=negative_particle)
is always and only glossed as ‘and_not’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘וְ’, ‘לֹא’’ have only one gloss: ‘and=not’.
