Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #371547

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 7 And_all images_of_its they_will_be_crushed and_all hire(s)_of_its they_will_be_burnt with_fire and_all idols_of_its I_will_make a_waste if/because from_the_hire_of a_prostitute it_gathered_them and_unto the_hire_of a_prostitute they_will_return. (MIC 1:7)

OET-RV: 7 All her carved statues will be smashed into pieces,
 ⇔ and all her wages will be burnt.
 ⇔ Yes, I’ll totally destroy all her idols.
 ⇔ Since she used prostitutes’ wages to pay for them,
 ⇔ ≈ the crushed pieces of idols will become prostitutes’ wages again.” (MIC 1:7)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘וְעַד’ (Morphology=C PoS=conjunction
 Morphology=R PoS=preposition)
is always and only glossed as ‘and_unto’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘וְ’, ‘עַד’’ have only one gloss: ‘and=unto’.
