AICNT 2COR Chapter 2

COR 2 ©

For I decided this for myself, not to come again to you in sorrow. 2For if I cause you sorrow, who is there to cheer me except the one being grieved by me?

And I wrote [[to you]][fn] this very thing, so that when I come, I may not have sorrow from those who ought to make me rejoice, having confidence in all of you that my joy is the joy of all of you. 4For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears, not that you should be grieved, but that you might know the love which I have more abundantly for you.

But if anyone has caused sorrow, it is not me they have caused sorrow, but to some extent (that I may not be a burden)[fn] all of you.

Sufficient for such a one is this punishment which was inflicted by the majority, 7so that on the contrary you should rather forgive and comfort, lest somehow such a one be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 8Therefore I urge you to reaffirm your love for him. 9For to this end also I wrote, in order that I might know your proven character, whether you are obedient in all things.

To whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For indeed, what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, it was for your sake in the presence of Christ, 11so that we might not be taken advantage of by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his schemes.

Now when I came to Troas for the gospel of Christ and a door was opened for me in the Lord, 13I had no rest in my spirit because I did not find Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I went on to Macedonia.

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the fragrance of the knowledge of him in every place. 15For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, 16to the one an aroma {from}[fn] death to death, to the other an aroma {from}[fn] life to life. And who is sufficient for these things?

For we are not like the {many},[fn] peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, before God, in Christ we speak.
