AICNT 2TH Chapter 2

TH 2 ©

We ask you, brothers, concerning the coming of {our}[fn] Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering to him, 2not to be quickly shaken from your mind or alarmed, neither by a spirit, nor by a message, nor by a letter as if from us, as though the day of {the Lord}[fn] has come.

Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of {lawlessness}[fn] is revealed, the son of destruction, 4who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits in the temple of God, [[as God]][fn] showing himself that he is God.

Do you not remember that when I was still with you, I told you these things?

And now you know what is restraining, for it to be revealed in its own time. 7For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only the one who now restrains will do so until he is out of the way. 8And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord [Jesus][fn] will destroy with the breath of his mouth and will bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming, 9whose coming is in accordance with the working[fn] of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10and with all wicked deception {for those}[fn] who are perishing, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.

And for this reason, God {sends}[fn] them a working[fn] of deception, for them to believe the lie, 12so that all those who did not believe the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness may be judged.

But we ought to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you as the {firstfruits}[fn] for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 14For this purpose [also][fn] he called you through our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or by our letter.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and [our] God the Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, 17comfort your hearts and strengthen [[you]][fn] in every good work and word.
