11:1 Yeshua teaches about prayer

(Mat. 6:9-13)

11One time Yeshua was at a place praying, and when he finished some of his followers asked him, “Master, Yohan-the-Immerser taught his apprentices how to pray. You teach us as well.”

2So Yeshua told them, “Whenever you all pray, say this:

Father, may your name be honoured.

May your kingdom come to pass.

3Every day give us the food that we need.

4Forgive us for our sins because we’ve forgiven those who owed us money.

Don’t bring us into situations where we’re tempted.

5Then he told them, “Imagine you had a friend and went to them at midnight and asked, ‘Friend, lend me some bread 6because a travelling friend of mine arrived at my place, and I haven’t got anything to give him to eat.’ 7And the one in the other house might reply, ‘Don’t bother me now because the house is locked and the kids are asleep beside me here in the bed. I can’t get up and get anything for you.’ 8I’m telling all of you that even if that friend wouldn’t get up and give them anything because of their friendship, then the friend will certainly get up and give them some food if they persist in knocking. 9So this is what I’m telling you: Keep submitting your requests and it’ll be given to you all, keep searching and you’ll all find what you’re looking for, keep knocking and the door will be opened for you all, 10because everyone who requests will receive, and everyone who searches will find, and everyone who knocks will have opened doors. 11How many of you fathers, if your child asked you for some fish, and instead of that you’d give them a snake? 12Or the child would ask for an egg and you’d pass them a scorpion? 13So if you all know how to give good things to your children despite your being evil, how much more the father in heaven will give the holy spirit to those who ask him.

11And it_became at the time him to_be in a_ certain _place praying, when he_ceased, someone of_the apprentices/followers of_him said to him:
master, teach us to_be_praying, as also Yōannaʸs taught the apprentices/followers of_him.
2And he_said to_them:
Whenever you_all_may_be_praying, be_saying:
father, let_ the name of_you _be_sanctified.
let_ the kingdom of_you.
_Come.
3Be_giving the the to_us daily_needed bread of_us, which in_every day.
4And forgive to_us the sins of_us, because/for also we_ ourselves _are_forgiving to_everyone owing to_us.
And not may_you_carry_in us into temptation.
5And he_said to them:
Who of you_all will_be_having a_friend, and will_be_going to him at_midnight, and may_say to_him:
Friend, lend three loaves to_me, 6since a_friend of_me arrived from a_journey to me, and I_am_ not _having what I_will_be_setting_before to_him.
7And_that one inside answering may_say:
Be_ not _bringing_about to_me troubles, the door has_been_shut already, and the little_children of_me are with me in the bed, I_am_ not _being_able having_risen_up to_give anything to_you.
8I_am_saying to_you_all, even if will_ not _be_giving to_him having_risen_up, because_of that to_be friend of_him, surely because_of the persistence of_him having_been_raised, will_be_giving to_him of_as_much_as he_is_needing.
9And_I am_saying to_you_all:
Be_requesting, and it_will_be_being_given to_you_all, be_seeking, and you_all_will_be_finding, be_knocking, and it_will_be_being_opened_up to_you_all.
10For/Because everyone which requesting is_receiving, and the one seeking is_finding, and to_the one knocking it_will_be_being_opened_up.
11and who of of_you_all the son will_be_requesting the father, a_fish, and instead_of a_fish, will_be_handing_out a_serpent?
to_him 12or also will_be_requesting an_egg, will_be_handing_out a_scorpion to_him?
13Therefore if you_all being evil, have_known good gifts to_be_giving to_the children of_you_all, for_how_much more the father who is of heaven will_be_giving the_ holy _spirit to_the ones requesting him?
