9:1 Yeshua sends out his twelve apprentices

(Mark 6:7-13, Mat. 10:5-15)

9Then Yeshua called together his twelve trainees and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases, 2and then sent them out to preach about God’s kingdom and to heal those who were sick. 3Don’t take anything for the journey,” he told them. “Don’t take a walking stick or a backpack or food or money or spare clothes. 4When someone invites you into their home, stay in that one house until you leave that place, 5[ref]but when the people don’t want to hear from you, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony to them that they’re now responsible to God for their own actions.

6So they headed off, preaching the good message and healing the people as they walked from village to village.

9And having_called_together the twelve, he_gave to_them power and authority over all the demons, and to_be_healing diseases, 2and he_sent_ them _out to_be_proclaiming the kingdom of_ the _god, and to_be_healing the sick.
3And he_said to them:
Be_taking_ nothing _away for the journey, neither staff, nor knapsack, nor bread, nor silver, nor to_be_having two tunics.
4And into whatever wishfully house you_all_may_come_in, be_remaining there and from_there be_coming_out.
5And as_many_as wishfully may_ not _be_receiving you_all, coming_out from the that city, be_shaking_off the dust from the feet of_you_all, because/for a_testimony against them.
6And coming_out, they_were_passing_through throughout the villages, good_message_preaching and healing everywhere.

9:7 Herod is confused by the news

(Mark 6:14-29, Mat. 14:1-12)

7[ref]Herod the ruler of the Galilean quarter heard about everything that was going on and was completely puzzled, because some people said that Yohan the immerser had come back to life, 8while others said that Eliyah had been spotted, and others that one of the other ancient prophets had come back to life. 9“I beheaded Yohan,” King Herod said, “so who is this man that I’m hearing so much about?” So he tried to find a way to see him.

7And Haʸrōdaʸs the quarter_ruler heard the things becoming all, and was_thoroughly_perplexing, because_of the thing to_be_being_said by some that Yōannaʸs was_raised from the_dead, 8and by some that Aʸlias/(ʼĒliyyāh) was_seen, and by_others that a_certain prophet of_the ancients rose_up.
9And Haʸrōdaʸs said:
I beheaded Yōannaʸs, but who is this concerning whom I_am_hearing such things?
And he_was_seeking to_see him.

9:10 Yeshua feeds 5,000 families

(Jn 6:1-14, Mark 6:30-44, Mat. 14:13-21)

10When the twelve apprentices returned back to Yeshua, they reported back to him everything they’d done. Then he took them to the town of Bethsaida for some private time, 11but the crowds saw where he went and followed after them, so he welcomed them and taught them about God’s kingdom as well as healing those who needed it.

12As the day was coming to an end, the twelve approached him and said, “Send the crowd away so that they can go into the nearby towns and countryside to find somewhere to stay and something to eat, because this place is very isolated.”

13But Yeshua told them, “You all give them something to eat.

“We don’t have anything more than just five breadrolls and two fish, unless we go and buy some food for all these people.” 14There were about 5,000 men (not counting women and children).

Then he told his apprentices, “Sit them down in rows of about fifty each.15So they did that and everyone sat down. 16Then Yeshua took the five breadrolls and the two fish and looking up to the sky, he blessed them and broke them into pieces to give to the apprentices to distribute to the crowd. 17Everyone ate until they were satisfied, and then twelve baskets of leftover pieces were collected up afterwards.

10And having_returned, the ambassadors described to_him as_much_as they_did.
And having_taken them, he_withdrew by himself into a_city being_called Baʸthsaida.
11But the crowds having_known, followed after_him.
And having_welcomed them, he_was_speaking to_them concerning the kingdom of_ the _god, and he_was_healing the ones having need of_healing.
12And the day began to_be_declining, and the twelve having_approached said to_him:
Send_away the crowd, in_order_that having_been_gone into the surrounding villages and country, they_may_lodge and they_may_find provisions, because we_are here in a_desolate place.
13But he_said to them:
You_all give something to_them.
to_eat.
But they said:
Not to_us are more than five loaves and two fishes, if surely_not having_been_gone, we may_buy foods for all the this people.
14For/Because they_were about five_thousand men.
) And he_said to the apprentices/followers of_him:
Recline them in_groups about fifty each.
15And thus they_did, and they_ all _reclined.
16And having_taken the five loaves and the two fishes, having_looked_up to the sky, he_blessed them and broke_up them, and was_giving them to_the apprentices/followers to_set_before before_the crowd.
17And all ate and were_satisfied, and twelve baskets was_ the amount _taken_up having_been_leftover to_them of_the_fragments.

9:18 Peter’s recognition of the messiah

(Mark 8:27-29, Mat. 16:13-19)

18Later when it was the time to pray and Yeshua and the twelve moved away from the crowd, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?

19[ref]Some say Yohan-the-Immerser,” they answered, “while others say Eliyah, and others say that some other ancient prophet came back to life.”

20[ref]And so who do you guys say I am?” he asked.

You’re God’s messiah,” Peter answered.

18And it_became at the time him to_be praying down/against/according_to alone, the apprentices/followers were_being_with with_him, and he_asked them saying:
Whom are_ crowds _saying the me to_be?
19And they answering said:
Yōannaʸs the immerser, and others, Aʸlias/(ʼĒliyyāh), but others that a_certain prophet of_the ancients rose_up.
20And he_said to_them:
But whom you_all are_saying me to_be?
And Petros answering said:
The chosen_one/messiah of_ the _god.

9:21 Yeshua tells about his coming suffering and death

(Mark 8:30-31, Mat. 16:20-21)

21Then Yeshua warned them—instructing them not to tell this to anyone else, 22saying, “Humanity’s child needs to suffer many things and to be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the religious teachers, and then to be executed and to be brought back to life on the third day.

21And he, having_warned to_them, commanded them to_be_telling this to_no_one, 22having_said, that It_is_fitting the son of_ the _man to_suffer many things, and to_be_rejected by the elders, and chief_priests, and scribes, and to_be_killed_off and on_the third day to_be_raised.

9:23 The cost of following Yeshua

(Mark 8:34–9:1, Mat. 16:24-28)

23[ref]Yeshua said, “If anyone wants to become my follower, then that person needs to renounce their own desires and follow me, even in suffering and death, 24[ref]because anyone who wants to save their own life will lose it, but anyone who is prepared to lose their live on account of me, they’ll be saving their life. 25How would it benefit a person if they gained the wealth of the whole world, but then ended up lost or destroyed? 26Because anyone who’s ashamed of me and my teachings, humanity’s child will be ashamed of that person when he comes in his splendour and with the splendour of the father and of God’s messengers. 27But I can certainly tell you that some of those who’re standing here won’t die until they see God’s kingdom.

23And he_was_saying to all:
If anyone is_wanting to_be_coming after me, him_let_renounce himself, and him_let_take_up the stake of_him in_every day, and him _let_be_following after_me.
24For/Because whoever wishfully may_be_wanting to_save the life of_him, will_be_losing it, but whoever wishfully may_lose the life of_him on_account me, this one will_be_saving it.
25For/Because what is_being_benefited a_person, having_gained the whole world, and having_destroyed himself or having_been_lost?
26For/Because whoever wishfully may_be_ashamed_of me and the my messages, this one the son of_ the _man will_be_being_ashamed of, whenever he_may_come in the glory of_him, and of_the father, and of_the holy messengers.
27But I_am_saying to_you_all truly, are some of_the ones having_stood here, who by_no_means may_ not _taste of_death, until wishfully they_may_see the kingdom of_ the _god.

9:28 Yeshua chats with Moses and Eliyah

(Mark 9:2-8, Mat. 17:1-8)

28It was about eight days later that Yeshua took Peter and Yohan and Yacob, and climbed a hill to pray. 29While he was praying, the appearance of his face changed and his clothes turned brilliant white. 30Then, look, there were two men talking with him—Moses and Eliyah! 31Those two who’d been in heaven were talking about the end of his time here which was about to actioned in Yerusalem. 32Peter and the others had been exhausted and fallen asleep, but when they woke up they saw the radiance of Yeshua and the other two standing there with him, 33but when it was time for the two to leave, Peter said to Yeshua, “Master, it’s good that we’re here. We could make three shelters: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Eliyah.” (But he didn’t really know what he was saying.)

34While he was still speaking, a cloud appeared and enveloped them and they were afraid as they entered the fog. 35[ref]Then a voice came out of the cloud that said, “This is my son, the one that has been chosen. Listen to him.”

36By the time that the voice had spoken, they could only see Yeshua in front of them. After this event, they kept what had happened to themselves and didn’t tell anyone else about what they had seen.

28And it_became about eight days after the these sayings, having_taken Petros, and Yōannaʸs, and Yakōbos/(Yaˊaqov), he_went_up on the mountain to_pray.
29And it_became at the time him to_be_praying, the appearance of_the face of_him different, and the clothing of_him gleaming white.
30And see, two men were_conversing_with with_him, who were Mōsaʸs/(Mosheh) and Aʸlias/(ʼĒliyyāh), 31who having_been_seen in glory, were_spoken the departure of_him, which he_was_going to_be_fulfilling in Hierousalaʸm/(Yərūshālayim).
32And the Petros and the ones with him were having_been_weighed_down with_sleep, but having_fully_awoken they_saw the glory of_him, and the two men which having_stood_with with_him.
33And it_became at the time them to_be_being_departed from him, the Petros said to the Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa):
Master, it_is good for_us here to_be, and we_may_make three tents:
one for_you, and one for_Mōsaʸs, and one for_Aʸlias, not having_known what he_is_saying.
34And of_him saying these things, a_cloud became and overshadowed them, and they_were_afraid at the time to_come_in them into the cloud.
35And a_voice became out_of the cloud saying:
This is the son of_me, the one having_been_chosen, be_hearing from_him.
36And at the time the voice to_become, only Yaʸsous was_found.
And they kept_silent, and they_reported to_no_one in those the days nothing of_what things they_have_seen.

9:37 Yeshua heals a demon-possessed boy

(Mark 9:14-27, Mat. 17:14-18)

37When they came back down the hill the next day, a big crowd was waiting for them. 38Then, look, a man in the crowd shouted out, “Teacher, I implore you to come and look at my son, because he’s my only child. 39A spirit takes control of him and suddenly he cries out and it makes him convulse and foam at the mouth, and only leaves him after a long time when he’s bruised and battered. 40I tried to get your apprentices to drive it out, but they couldn’t.”

41Oh you unbelieving and perverted generation,Yeshua answered, “how much longer do I have to be with you and put up with all of you? Bring your son here.

42While they were still approaching, the demon attacked the boy and threw him in a convulsion, but Yeshua rebuked the evil spirit and healed the boy and led him back to his father. 43Everyone there was astounded at God’s power.

37And it_became on_the next day, of_them having_come_down from the mountain, a_ great _crowd met with_him.
38And see, a_man from the crowd shouted saying:
Teacher, I_am_beseeching of_you to_look_at at the son of_me, because he_is an_only_begotten to_me.
39And see, a_spirit is_taking him, and suddenly he_is_crying_out and it_is_convulsing him with foam, and is_going_away from him, with_difficultly, bruising him.
40And I_was_besought of_the apprentices/followers of_you that they_may_throw_out it, and they_were_ not _able.
41And the Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) answering said:
Oh unbelieving generation and having_been_perverted, until when I_will_be with you_all and I_will_be_tolerating of_you_all?
Bring_forward here the son of_you.
42And still approaching of_him, the demon attacked him and threw_into_convulsions  him.
But the Yaʸsous gave_rebuke to_the the unclean spirit, and he_healed the boy and gave_ him _back to_the father of_him.
43And all were_being_astonished at the greatness of_ the _god.
But all wondering at all which he_was_doing, he_said to the apprentices/followers of_him,

9:44 Yeshua talks again about his death

(Mark 9:30-32, Mat. 17:22-23)

While all the people were still amazed at what he’d done, Yeshua turned and said to his apprentices, 44Remember everything that’s been said, because humanity’s child is going to be turned in and placed into the hands of these people.45But the apprentices didn’t know what he meant as it was hidden from them so they couldn’t comprehend it, plus they were afraid to ask him to explain further.

44You_all set into the ears of_you_all the these messages, because/for the son of_ the _man is_going to_be_being_given_over into the_hands of_people.
45But they were_not_knowing the this saying, and it_was having_been_concealed from them, in_order_that they_may_ not _sense it, and they_were_fearing to_ask him concerning the this saying.

9:46 Who is the greatest?

(Mark 9:33-37, Mat. 18:1-5)

46[ref]Then the apprentices got themselves into a discussion about who was the greatest among them. 47But Yeshua knew what was going on, so he took a young child and stood the child there alone 48[ref]and told them, “Anyone who accepts a young child in my name is accepting me, and anyone who accepts me is accepted the one who sent me here. Because it’s the person who is the least among you that is great.

46And a_speculation came_in among them, who wishfully might_be the_ greater _one of_them.
47But the Yaʸsous having_known the speculation of_the heart of_them, having_taken_hold_of a_little_child, stood it by himself, 48and said to_them:
Whoever if may_receive this the little_child in the name of_me, is_receiving me, and whoever wishfully may_receive me, is_receiving the one having_sent_out me.
For/Because the one being least among all you_all, this one is great.

9:49 The one not against you is for you

(Mark 9:38-40)

49Master,” Yohan answered, “we saw someone driving out demons using your name, and we told him to stop because he’s not one of us.”

50Don’t forbid people like him,Yeshua replied, “because anyone who’s not against you all, is for you.

49And Yōannaʸs answering said:
Master, we_saw someone throwing_out demons in the name of_you, and we_were_forbidding him, because he_is_ not _following with us.
50But the Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) said to him:
Be_ not _forbidding  him, because/for who is not against you_all, is for you_all.

9:51 Yeshua gets snubbed by a village in Samaria

51It was now coming to the time when the events leading to his ascension would start happening, so Yeshua firmed his resolve to head towards Yerusalem 52and he sent his apprentices ahead of him.

So they started off and arrived at a Samaritan village and went to get ready for his arrival, 53but the people there didn’t welcome them because Yeshua’s resolve was to get to Yerusalem. 54[ref]Seeing this, his apprentices Yacob and Yohan asked, “Master, will you let us call fire down from the sky to burn them up?”

55However, Yeshua turned around and told them off, 56so they headed off to another village.

51And it_became at the time to_be_being_fulfilled the days of_the ascension of_him, and he established his face, which to_be_going to Hierousalaʸm/(Yərūshālayim), 52and he_sent_out messengers before the_face of_him.
And having_been_gone, they_came_in into a_village of_the_Samareitaʸs/(Shomərōn), so_as to_prepare for_him.
53And they_ not _received him, because the face of_him was going toward Hierousalaʸm.
54And having_seen it, the apprentices/followers Yakōbos/(Yaˊaqov) and Yōannaʸs said:
master, are_you_willing that we_may_call fire to_come_down from the sky and to_consume_ them _up?
55But having_been_turned, he_gave_rebuke to_them.
56And they_were_gone to another village.

9:57 The people who would have liked to follow Yeshua

(Mat. 8:19-22)

57As they headed down the road, someone told Yeshua, “I’ll follow you wherever you go to.”

58Foxes have their burrows,” he responded, “and the birds have their nests, but humanity’s child has no home where he can lie down and relax.

59Later he told a different person, “Follow me.

But the man replied, “Master, just let me first go and bury my father.”

60Leave those who’re dead to bury the dead by themselves,” Yeshua said, “but you go and tell people about God’s kingdom.

61[ref]Also, another person said, “I’ll follow after you, master, but first let me go back and say goodbye to everyone at home.”

62But Yeshua responded, “No one who starts ploughing a field and then starts looking backwards is suitable for God’s kingdom.

57And going of_them on the road, someone said to him:
I_will_be_following after_you wherever if you_may_be_going_away.
58And the Yaʸsous said to_him:
- foxes are_having burrows, and the birds of_the sky nests, but the son of_ the _man is_ not _having where his head may_be_laying.
59And he_said to another:
Be_following after_me.
But he said:
master, permit to_me having_gone_away, first to_bury the father of_me.
60But he_said to_him:
Leave the dead to_bury the dead by_themselves, but you having_gone_away, be_proclaiming the kingdom of_ the _god.
61And also another he_said:
I_will_be_following after_you, master, but first permit to_me to_bid_goodbye to_the ones at the home of_me.
62But the Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) said:
No_one Having_laid_on the hand of_him on the_plow, and looking on the things behind, is suitable in_the kingdom of_ the _god.
