Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #39094

← לִפְנֵי ⌂ → Exo 28 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 30 And_you_will_put into the_breastpiece_of (the)_judgement DOM the_Urim and_DOM the_Thummim and_they_will_be over the_heart_of ʼAhₐron when_goes_he to_(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before YHWH and_ ʼAhₐron _he_will_bear DOM the_judgement_of the_people_of Yisrāʼēl/(Israel) over his/its_heart to_(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before YHWH continually. (EXO 28:30)

OET-RV: 30 Then place the ‘Urim’ and the ‘Tummim’ in the sacred pouch so they’ll be over Aharon’s heart when he goes in before Yahweh, thus Aharon will continually bear the decisions of the Israelis over his heart before Yahweh. (EXO 28:30)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘לִפְנֵי’ (Morphology=R PoS=preposition
 Morphology=Ncbpc PoS=common_noun Gender=both Number=plural State=construct)
is always and only glossed as ‘to_(the)_face_of / in_front_of / before’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘לְ’, ‘פָּנֶה’’ have only one gloss: ‘to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before’.
