Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #25022

← לֵאמֹר ⌂ → Gen 50 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 5 father_of_my he_made_me_swear_an_oath to_say HERE I am_about_to_die in_grave_of_my which I_dug to_me in_land of_Kənaˊan/(Canaan) there_(to) you_will_bury_me and_now let_me_go_up please so_that_I_may_bury DOM father_of_my and_I_will_return. (GEN 50:5)

OET-RV: 5 my father made me swear, saying, ‘Listen, I am dying. You must bury me in my grave that I dug for myself in Canaan.’ So now, please ask Far’oh to let me go up there and bury my father, then I’ll return.” (GEN 50:5)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘לֵאמֹר’ (Morphology=R PoS=preposition
 Morphology=Vqc PoS=qal_verb Type=infinitive_construct)
is always and only glossed as ‘to_say’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘לְ’, ‘אָמַר’’ have only one gloss: ‘to=say’.
