Open English Translation (OET)

Hebrew wordlink #321192

← וְאֶל ⌂ → Jer 34 ║ ═

Key: khaki:verbs.
Bold in each verse marks the word or words linked to that example’s source word, where an alignment is available.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong). An unbolded RV line may have no alignment for this word. See the OET key for other text colours and marks.

OET-LV: 17 for_so/thus/hence thus YHWH he_says you(pl) not you(pl)_have_listened to_me to_call liberty everyone to_brother_of_his and_everyone to_neighbour_of_his HERE_I am_about_to_proclaim to/for_you(pl) liberty the_utterance_of YHWH to the_drought//sword/knife to (the)_pestilence and_near/to (the)_famine and_I_will_make you(pl) mmm to_all/each/any/every the_kingdoms_of the_earth/land. (JER 34:17)

OET-RV: 17 therefore Yahweh says this: You yourselves haven’t listened to me—you all should have declared your fellow Israelis to be free. So listen, I’m about to proclaim ‘freedom’ for you: freedom to experience war, deadly diseases, and famine, because I’m going to make you a horrible thing in the sight of every kingdom in the world. That is Yahweh’s declaration. (JER 34:17)

Note: These word pages enable you to click through to the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (OSHB) that the Open English Translation Old Testament is translated from. The OSHB is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC). (We are still searching for a digitized facsimile of the Leningradensis manuscript that we can easily link to. See this list and this archive for now.) This is all part of the commitment of the Open English Translation team to be transparent about all levels of the Bible translation process right back to the original manuscripts.

The word form ‘וְאֶל’ (Morphology=C PoS=conjunction
 Morphology=R PoS=preposition)
is always and only glossed as ‘and_near / to’.

The various word forms of the root word (lemma) ‘Lemmas=‘וְ’, ‘אֶל’’ have only one gloss: ‘and=near/to’.
