Advice to believers

This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.

Readers’ Version

Literal Version

5:1 Advice to believers

5Because of that I am encouraging your elders as a fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of the messiah and also a partner in the GLORY that’s going to be revealed: 2[ref]Carefully shepherd God’s people that you care for, not out of compulsion but willingly, listening to God, not greedily but enthusiastically, 3not exercising dominance over them, but being examples for them. 4Then when the chief shepherd returns, you all will receive the unfading crown of honour.

5[ref]Similarly, you younger ones, take the advice of your elders, and all of you, show humility to each other becauseGod opposes those who’re proud, but displays grace to those who’re humble.’ 6[ref]So humble yourselves under God’s might hand so that he might honour you at the right time. 7Give all your concerns to him because he cares about you all.

8Stay alert and keep watch. Your opponent, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, wanting to swallow you all up 9but remain firmly in the faith and resist him, knowing that fellow believers all around the world experiencing similar sufferings are doing the same. 10Then God, the source of all grace and the one who called you to his eternal GLORY in the messiah will prepare you all as you suffer a little, and will then strengthen you as you’re established. 11May his ruling be powerful throughout all the ages. May it be so.

5Therefore I_am_exhorting elders among you_all, the a_fellow-elder and witness of_the sufferings of_the chosen_one/messiah, also the partner of_the glory going to_be_being_revealed, 2shepherd the flock of_ the _god among you_all, not compulsory, but willingly, according_to god, not greedily, but eagerly, 3not as exercising_mastership over_the allotments, but becoming examples to_the flock.
4And the chief_shepherd having_been_revealed, you_all_will_be_receiving_back the unfading crown of_ the _glory.
5Likewise, younger ones, be_subjected to_^your_elders.
And, all tie_in the humility to_one_another because:
- god is_opposing against_the_proud, but is_giving grace to_the_humble ones.
6Therefore be_humbled under the mighty hand of_ the _god, in_order_that he_may_exalt you_all in time, 7having_throw_on all the worry of_you_all on him, because with_him is_caring about you_all.
8Be_sober, watch.
The opponent of_you_all, the_devil, is_walking as a_lion roaring, seeking to_swallow_up, 9against_whom resist, solid in_the in_faith, having_known the same things of_the sufferings, by_the in the world of_you_all brotherhood to_be_being_accomplished.
10And the god of_all grace, the one having_called you_all to the eternal glory of_him in chosen_one/messiah, you_having_suffered little, he will_be_preparing you, will_be_strengthening you, will_be_strengthening you, 11to_him be the dominion for the ages.
Of_the ages.
Truly.
