10:35-45 Following Jesus’ third prediction of his suffering (10:32-33) comes another example of the disciples’ failure (see 8:31-33; 9:31-34). The first part of the account involves the foolish request of James and John (10:35-37) and Jesus’ reply to them (10:38-40). Then Jesus explains to the other disciples what greatness and leadership in the Kingdom of God mean (10:41-44). Jesus’ own supreme example of servanthood (10:45) illustrates and concludes this account.

Here, the word And introduces the next major event in the story. It happened sometime soon after Jesus spoke the words recorded in the previous verses. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a word or phrase that introduces the next event, or you could leave And untranslated. Alternate translation: “Soon after that,” or “After Jesus said those things,”

˱we˲_/are/_wanting that whatever ¬if ˱we˲_/may/_request you ˱you˲_/may/_do ˱for˲_us
Alternate translation: “if we ask you to do something for us, will you do it?” or “Please do for us whatever we ask you to do.”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / exclusive
θέλομεν & αἰτήσωμέν & ἡμῖν
˱we˲_/are/_wanting & ˱we˲_/may/_request & ˱for˲_us
Here, the pronouns we and us refer only to James and John, and so they would be exclusive. Your language may require you to mark these forms.
