3:1 The return of Yeshua the messiah

3This is now my second letter to you my friends—both of which were sent as reminders to stir up your minds to sincerely 2remember the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets as well as the instruction of the Lord and saviour that came via your apostles. 3[ref]Firstly you should know that mockers will come during the last days, scoffing, following their own lusts 4and saying, “What about his promised return? Everything has just continued as usual from the beginning of creation right past the time when the ancestors died. 5[ref]But because of their desires, the truth is hidden from them that the universe came into being long ago by God’s word and the earth was formed out of water and through water 6[ref]and these same waters deluged the ancient world which then perished. 7But the present universe and the earth have been preserved by that same word to be kept for fire in the day of judgement and destruction of those who are ungodly.

8[ref]But don’t let this one thing escape your attention my dear friends, that one day for us is like a thousand years with the Lord, and a thousand years is like one day. 9The Lord isn’t slow in fulfilling his promise as some consider slowness, but is patient toward you—not wanting anyone to perish but rather wanting everyone to come to repentance.

10[ref]But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, when the universe will suddenly pass away, its components will burn up and be destroyed, and the earth and what happened on it will be examined. 11Since all these things will be destroyed, what kind of people should you be? Holy and godly in conduct, 12waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God when the universe will be set alight and destroyed and its components will melt as they burn up. 13[ref]But we await a new universe and a new earth filled with righteousness according to his promise.

14And so dear friends, while you await these events be eager and found to be at peace with himspotless and blameless. 15And consider the patience of our Lord as leading to salvation as our dear brother Paul wrote to you using the wisdom that has been given to him. 16He speaks in all his letters concerning these things, some of which are hard to understand and which ignorant and unstable people twist just like they twist the other scriptures to their own destruction.

17So knowing this in advance dear friends, guard yourselves in case you fall from your own stable position with the same errors as the lawless ones. 18Rather grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and saviour Yeshua Messiah. May the glory be his, both now and through the days of eternity. Amen.

3Beloved this is now, the_second letter I_am_writing to_you_all, in which I_am_awaking the sincere mind of_you_all in remembrance, 2to_be_reminded of_the messages having_been_previously_spoken, by the holy prophets, and of_the command of_the master and saviour of_the ambassadors of_you_all.
3Knowing this first, that mockers will_be_coming in the_last of_the days with mocking, pursuing according_to their own lusts of_them, 4and saying:
Where is the promise of_the coming of_him?
From for that time the fathers were_fallen_asleep, all things is_continuing thus from the_beginning of_creation.
5For/Because this is_escaping_notice them willing, that the_heavens were anciently, and the_earth having_consisted out_of water and through water by_the message of_ the _god, 6through which the then world perished having_been_flooded in_water.
7But the now heavens and the earth, by_the same message are having_been_stored_up, for_fire being_kept to the_day of_judgment and destruction of_ the _ungodly people.
8But let_ this _be_escaping_notice one not you_all, beloved, that one day with the_master is like a_thousand years and a_thousand, years are like one day.
9the_master is_ not _slowing of_his promise, as some are_considering slowness, but he_is_being_patient toward you_all, not wishing any to_perish, but all to to_accept repentance.
10But the_day of_the_master will_be_coming like a_thief, in which the heavens will_be_passing_away vociferously, and elements being_burned will_be_being_destroyed, and the_earth and the works in it will_be_being_found.
11all these things thus being_destroyed, what_kind_of people it_is_fitting you_all to_be_being in holy conduct and devoutness, 12expecting and hurrying the coming of_the day of_ the _god, because_of which the_heavens being_burned, will_be_being_destroyed, and the_elements being_burned, is_being_melted.
13But we_are_waiting for_new heavens and a_new earth, according_to the promise of_him, in which righteousness is_dwelling.
14Therefore, beloved, expecting these things, be_earnest spotless and blameless to_be_found by_him in peace.
15And be_considering the patience of_the master of_us, salvation, as also the beloved of_us brother Paulos, according_to the wisdom having_been_given to_him, wrote to_you_all, 16as also in all letters, speaking in them concerning these things, among which is hard_to_understand things some, which the ignorant and unstable are_twisting as also the other scriptures, to their own destruction of_them.
17Therefore you_all, beloved, knowing_before be_guarding, in_order_that you_all_may_ not _fall_from from_your own steadfastness having_been_carried_away with_the deception of_the lawless.
18But be_growing in grace, and in_the_knowledge of_the master and saviour of_us, Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) chosen_one/messiah.
To_him be the glory both now and to the_day of_eternity.
Truly.
