This OET Readers’ Version was designed to be used with the Literal Version alongside, so you won’t get the best understanding from this single viewpoint. This is still an early look into the drafted text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.

The people agree to act

Ges 8:91–96

91 As Ezra in his prayer made his confession, weeping, and lying flat on the ground before the temple, a very great throng of men, women, and children gathered to him from Yerushalem (Jerusalem); for there was great weeping amongst the multitude.[ref] 92 Then Yekonias the son of Yehiel, one of the sons of Yisrael, called out, and said, “Oh Ezra, we have sinned against the master God, we have married foreign women of the heathen of the land, but there is still hope for Yisrael. 93 Let’s make an oath to the master about this, that we will put away all our foreign wives with their children, 94 as seems good to you, and to as many as obey the master’s Law. 95 Arise, and take action, for this is your task, and we will be with you to do valiantly.” 96 So Ezra arose, and took an oath from the chief of the priests and Levites of all Yisrael to do these things; and they swore to it.
