43:1 Asking God for help
(Continuation of Song 42)
43 God, declare me to be innocent,
and defend my case against an unfaithful nation.
Deliver me from deceitful and evil people.
2 For you are the god who’s my place of safety.
Why have you rejected me?
Why do I walk around mourning because of an enemy’s oppression?
3 Send out your light and your truth—let them lead me.
Let them bring me to your sacred mountain
≈ and to your residence.
to the god who gives me great fulfillment.
I will praise you with the harp, oh God, my god.
5 My soul, why are you bowed down?
≈ And why are you upset within me?
Put your hope in God, because I’ll thank him again—
my god’s presence leads to my being saved.
