OET (OET-LV) Whenever I_may_send Artemis or Tuⱪikos to you, be_earnest to_come to me into Nikopolis, because/for I_have_judged to_winter there.
OET (OET-RV) Whenever I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, you should try to meet me at Nicopolis, because I’ve decided to spend the winter there.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
ὅταν πέμψω Ἀρτεμᾶν πρὸς σὲ ἢ Τυχικόν
whenever ˱I˲_/may/_send Artemis to you or Tychicus
The implication is that Titus should come to Nicopolis after either Artemas or Tychicus arrives to where Titus is. You could include this information if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: “After I send Artemas or Tychicus and he arrives to you”
Note 2 topic: translate-names
Ἀρτεμᾶν & Τυχικόν
Artemis & Tychicus
Artemas and Tychicus are names of men.
σπούδασον ἐλθεῖν
be_earnest /to/_come
Alternate translation: “do your best to come”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / yousingular
σπούδασον
be_earnest
The verb hurry is singular and directed at Titus alone. Artemas or Tychicus would stay in Crete, probably to take Titus’ place.
3:12 Evidently Artemas or Tychicus would be Titus’s replacement on Crete. Since Tychicus was in fact sent to Ephesus (see 2 Tim 4:12), Artemas might have been the one who went to Crete.
• Nicopolis: Several cities had this name; this was most likely a major city on the western coast of the Greek peninsula. Paul had possibly worked here before (see Rom 15:19, which mentions Paul’s activity even further west).
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Greek words that they’re translated from.
