3 The Eternal said to me, “Go again and love an adulterous woman, in love with a paramour, as the Eternal loves the Israelites, although they turn to other gods and love their idolatrous raisin-cakes.” 2 So I bought her for fifteen florins and eighteen bushels of barley, 3 and I told her, “For many a day you must remain mine, you must not play the harlot, you must have nothing to do with a man – and I will have nothing to do with you.” 4 For the Israelites shall remain for many a day without king or chief, without sacrifice or sacred stone, without ephor or oracle; 5 after that, the Israelites shall turn to seek the Eternal their God once more, and their Davidic king, and at the end come eagerly to the Eternal and his goodness.
